Venice Walking Tour and Gondola Ride

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

Location: Venice, Italy

My Review: Gondola rides are pricey, so I figured the walking tour was "free". The walking tour wasn't the greatest. I had trouble hearing the guide - she didn't want to have to talk loud. Other tours we took, we wore head sets and could hear the guide. This tour was a lot of walking in silence, then stopping and talking. The headsets would have enabled us to glean more information about the beautiful city of Venice. The gondola ride was lovely. I heard no singing by any gondoliers, but I felt it was an experience to be had in Venice.

Pisa and the Leaning Tower Half-Day Trip from Florence

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 4 star rating: Recommended

Location: Florence, Italy

My Review: I really loved the tour! It was a short ride from Florence. With a beautiful church, and the leaning tower was magnificent! Our tour guide gave us a lot of information, more than I expected. I really thought the money was well spent.

Rome by Night Tour

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 1 star rating: I do not recommend this

Location: Rome, Italy

My Review: I was so looking forward to this tour and being able to photograph beautiful sites lit up at night, but I was very disappointed. Our tour guide had to speak three different languages with our group and had a heavy accent herself. Much of the talking time was spent repeating the same thing three different times. We really received no information about the sites we stopped at or passed. We only stopped at three sites, too. Mostly the guides would say "This is very important" - but we would never know why. Translating in three different languages took too much time. At one point I thought the guide was talking about "3 phantoms," but she actually meant "3 fountains" so I really missed the whole point of the upcoming attraction. We waited at Trevi fountain for 35 min until it got finally got dark, then we barely had time to take a photograph of the fountain lit up. We went right past the Colosseum which was beautiful, but no time for pictures. I would say, save your money. Take the metro around town at night and do your own tour. I would not recommend.

Skip the Line: Vatican Museums Walking Tour including Sistine Chapel, Raphael's Rooms and St Peter's

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 5 star rating: Highly Recommended

Location: Rome, Italy

My Review: I really liked this tour, our guide was great! The headsets make it very easy to hear the guide. I would suggest researching the Vatican museum and staying inside when your tour is done. You can then wander around and view more works of art in your area of interest.

Rome to Pompeii Shuttle Bus & Independent Day Trip

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 5 star rating: Highly Recommended

Location: Rome, Italy

My Review: We had an archeologist with us on the bus ride. He was very informative, and I felt it was a pleasant bonus narration along the way. The three hour one way trip gave us time to catch up on sleep. We stopped half way there to stretch our legs and get something to eat. A tip I'll pass on that I read on a another review. When you go to buy food, stand in line to pay first, then pick up your food second. We did not hire a guide, and found plenty of information in the booklet the ticket office gives you. We had an appropriate time in Pompeii, and the three hours back gave you time to recover from a busy day of walking. Would recommend!
