The York Pass

York, United Kingdom

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review
Depending on what you plan on seeing in York, this pass could save you a lot of money! We saw the York Minster, Jorvik Viking Center and the York Castle Museum which were all included with the pass in just one day and still had time to do at least one more thing, so it was totally worth having this pass, it saved us money unlike the London pass, which is overpriced and not worth it unless you can see almost everything in London in 1 day! Plus we did the Haunted house and got buy 1 get 1 free tickets with the pass. Picked it up from the Visitor info center upon arrival at the train station the day before, and you're given a handy booklet with a city map and insights on places to visit and special offers at certain restaurants and shops, which was nice. York is a very walkable city, with lots of things to see and do. Highly recommended!

Leeds Castle Private Viewing, Canterbury and Greenwich Day Trip from London

London, United Kingdom

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review
A Leeds Castle private viewing was definitely awesome and we even had someone to guide us through the rooms, although the regular tourists started catching up to our group at the last couple of rooms which was a little distracting, as we only got 30 minutes to ourselves before others started arriving. Dover was really cool, I recommend eating at Leeds Castle's cafe and then skipping the overpriced pub lunch cost not included and instead take a walk on the path along the cliffs, breathtaking views! Canterbury Cathedral was okay, nothing too spectacular, and the brief walking tour of Greenwich left us wanting to come back to visit it again someday. The cruise up the river at the end was cool, the ships captain had lots of witty quips and info as he narrated our way past all the main sites. There was a mixup on the cruise's part regarding the champagne, tea and scones, and we got absolutely nothing unfortunately, but oh well I guess. We could've had a better tour guide, he was rather boring, quiet and didn't give us as much historical background on things as we would have liked. All in all a good trip though!

Beatles and Liverpool Rail Day Trip from London

London, United Kingdom

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review
Met the representative at the station in the morning, but he didn't have a company plaquenametag like they said he would. We only picked him out because we saw another couple approach him and he gave them a packet. Liverpool was kinda dirty compared to London, we didn't spend much time exploring the city. We walked straight down to the docks took 15mins from station and went in the Beatles museum, which was really cool. Then the Magical Mystery Tour at 12pm, which departed by the docks. The tour was great, they stop at all the main sites for you to get out and take pictures Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, and each of the Beatles' childhood houses. We even had a guy hop on the bus for a few minutes who was there the day Lennon and McCartney first met and he recounted his story. The tour ended at the Cavern Club around 2pm, so if you want to go back to the docks to see the maritime museum or other attractions, you have to walk back again probably 10min walk. We weren't in the mood to do much else after the tour, it was raining and we were tired. We walked back to the station to see if we could take an earlier train. The tour operator scheduled us on the 648pm train and were told no by a crabby ticket agent. To kill some time we ate and went to the art museum, but even after that we still had 2 more hours to go. Finally we approached a train representative and she kindly validated us on the next train out without any problems, so we were back in London by the time the original train would've been leaving Liverpool. All in all the Beatles portions were excellent!

Oxford, Warwick Castle and Stratford-upon-Avon Day Trip from London

London, United Kingdom

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review
We had the most awesome tour guide ever on our tour. He set the bar so high and he gave us so much information. He knew the route like the back of his hand and told us things we probably never would've heard from other tour guides. Warwick Castle was cool, definately if you have young kids, because there's a lot of interactive re-enactment stuff going on and people in costume etc. The waxworks inside the castle are amazingly realistic should be since they're done by Madame Tussauds. Stratford was also cool, wish we could've explored the town more and I would've liked to see Anne Hathaway's cottage too, but we didn't even drive by it. It doesn't take long to explore Shakespeare's House, then you're free to visit the many shops along the very tourist-oriented pedestrian street just outside his house. The pub lunch was good price not included, we probably could have eaten cheaper elsewhere but there's nothing else to do in this tiny town, so probably safe to stick with the pub lunch. Oxford was cool too, especially if you're Harry Potter fan! We were pretty much driving through "The Cotswolds" all day, but didn't really stop anywhere to enjoy the villages, so if you have your heart set on that, I might do a separate Cotswolds only tour, but we were perfectly satisfied with everything we saw, and even had a quick photo stop at a really quaint looking thatched roof cottage. All in all a great tour, and we were happy we got a mini-coach max 25 people rather than a huge coach, so less people!
