Beautiful country made the trip worth while. Could have been better with shorter bus trips and not use public transportation for several legs of the trip. The hotels were excellent in Dunedin and Queenstown except for Franz Josef. Thank goodness a free breakfast off set the dismal, very old hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our day trips to Milford Sound with a helicopter flight over the glaciers and swimming with the dolphins in Christchurch (this was extra, but worth it!) It was a great way to see the 'hightlights' of the South Island.

The day started out overcast and cool, perfect for picture taking. We were able to view the twice monthly ritual at the Meiji Shrine. Beautiful! There is history on every corner. The tour guide was very informative and had several good tidbits along the way of restaurants to eat at or other places to visit.

Fabulous! The tour guide was spot on and the trip was worth doing! Unfortunately, the day was very foggy and couldn't see the top to Mt. Fuji . The boat trip on Lake Ashi was all too short but still fun! The Bullet Train was unbelievable!
