San Francisco, California
We had a great driver but unfortunately we had a group of obnoxious people who boarded along with us. Two of the girls sat directly in front of us. The driver was inadvertently enabling their obnoxious behaviour by paying them a little bit of personal attention (asking them questions when microphone was off, having a smoke with them during break etc) so we got off earlier than we had planned. The bus ride itself was great and the driver was good. He provided everyone with a lot of commentary. I found the stop where we were supposed to board (near Macy's) impossible to find as all your directions stated was "across from Macy's". Macy's is huge! Overall, I would recommend it.
New York City, New York
I thought the Hop-on Hop-off was a great way to see the city however,it was not clear when booking that when you book your tickets online, you need to exchange them downtown for "real" tickets. Our first stop was World Trade Centre by PATH train. When I went to get on the Hop on Hop off bus on Broadway, the red jacket told me I needed tickets and that my printout needed to be exchanged downtown for tickets. I was not happy since I was all the way uptown at the time. I spoke with the driver and I had to get into a "discussion" before he agreed to let me on, on the condition that I get off downtown to exchange my printout for tickets. This needs to be clear to customers. Tour guides on the buses can be quite annoying constantly mentioning that they want tips. After one passenger gave a tour guide coins (not sure how much) the tour guide actually had the audacity to say "Well, I guess its better than nothing!"
