Green Island Day Trip from Cairns

My Review
At first we were a bit dismayed when we discovered that our booking for this trip had not been forwarded to the supplier. However, the friendly reception staff efficiently solved the problem with a couple of phone calls, and we were on our way. The morning tea included in the deal was exactly that, just a cup of tea or coffee, and we were lucky enough to grab a cup, as once under way, it was no longer served. Maybe the absence of a scone or biscuit was due to the desire to avoid sea sickness. Providing complimentary ginger tablets was a good idea, but I wondered if some of the especially non-English speaking passengers had been made sufficiently aware of their availability. It was a tad rough that day, and I felt very sympathetic toward a number of limp bodies draped around the place. The lunch provided was quite tasty. We didn't hear any grumbles and nobody frowned when we came back for seconds. What is it about the ocean that blows out your appetite! The activities offered on the island kept everyone happy, and the return trip was a bit smoother I think. I'm sure everyone came away in awe of the reef and crammed with information the staff provided about sea life. Overall, a good day! One last point. We were expecting a Tropical Wonderland but were saddened to find the whole area drought stressed, I heard it rained after we left though, yeah!

My Review
We are so pleased to have at last seen the Daintree. There's no way we could have done this trip under our own steam! Our driver and guide was very friendly, very personable and so full of information to keep us focused all the way there and back. Morning tea, I was pleased to see, wasn't served in a sterile glass & chrome monstrosity. I'm not sure how old the building was, but I thought it had seen a good few years and looked comfortably settled into it's surroundings. That was a tick from me. A welcome surprise for us ladies was the Captain of our Daintree River boat cruise. No fair dink-um Aussie could have done the job better than this tanned Italian hunk with the so cute accent, and we were supposed to be concentrating on crocodiles! I didn't get his name. Also our guide who took us on the canopy walk, crammed as much information as he could into the short time we spent with him. We left knowing he had so much more to tell. The BBQ lunch in the bush setting was delicious, vegetarians catered for. Another tick. We got safely back to our hotel despite a tree nearly falling on our moving bus! Just that last bit of excitement to add to a great day.
