Tokyo Morning Tour: Meiji Shrine, Senso-ji Temple and Ginza Shopping District

Tokyo, Japan

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review
This is a great few hours to show you a few interesting parts of Tokyo. As with some other tours they try to fit in a lot in the few hours you have but what they show you is beautiful. The Meiji Shrine is a stunning place to visit and we actually went back another day to spend more time there and to see more of it. During this tour we only got to spend 30 minutes here which isn't really long enough to take in what it has to offer and to explore everything else. Even though you spend a lot of time travelling to and from venues the tour guides are very knowledgeable about Tokyo and are constantly telling you what you are driving past and about the history of the area. You have a short walk through the Imperial Palace East Gardens which are beautiful and at this time of year the Cherry Blossoms are starting to come out. On the day we went id was raining which was a shame but we still saw the gardens and the blossoms. The tour ends in Ginza shopping district which is described as the New York of Tokyo. It has streets and streets of designer shops and department stores which you can spend hours in and thousands of yen! If you are interested here is where there is the Hello Kitty stores. There are about 4 Hello Kitty stores which have everything you could ever imagine! Very enjoyable but very busy!!

Nikko National Park Day Trip from Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review
The only fault I found with this day trip was they tried to fit alot into one day. We were only spending 20-30 minutes at each stop point. Nikko National park has a lot for you to see. You do get free time to wander round without the guide but it still isn't really long enough to look at everything in detail and take photos. There was some parts we had to miss out like the Japanese garden which was a real shame. We went to Kegon waterfall which is stunning and on route saw lots of wild monkeys. I warn you they can be very viscous!! we saw 2 monkeys lash out at tourists so just be careful! And the only other downfall was that it took us 4 hours to get back to Tokyo through the rush hour traffic. However, the tour guide was fantastic and obviously knew this could happen as she came fully prepared and had us singing and doing origami. All in all a very enjoyable day just a little rushed.

Tokyo Bay Dinner Cruise by Japanese-style Yakatabune boat

Tokyo, Japan

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review
THIS WAS FANTASTIC!! We extremely enjoyed this evening. The food was fantastic allowing us to experience the wide variety of Japanese food. We were the only western people on the boat which could have been a big problem apart from the fact we had our own tour guide who translated for us and explained to us what we were eating! Apparently this tour has only just become available to non-Japanese people so if you do go you are quite likely to be the only non-japanese people there. The other people on the boat do not see to mind you being there and they are completely fascinated that and English person made it all the way to Tokyo Bay! We thoroughly enjoyed this meal and would definitely recommend it

Mt Fuji, Lake Ashi and Bullet Train Day Trip from Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review
This was an amazing day trip. We got to see some amazing views and enjoy the local culture. The only problem with this trip is that there is only about 1 chance you will see the whole of mount Fuji. On the day we went we didn't see the top but it was still well worth going. The meal we received was lovely with all types of sushi. The boat trip on Lake Ashi was fab too. Very relaxing. I would definitely recommend this trip but i would advise going more in the spring or summer months due to the weather worsening your chances of seeing the mountain. Make sure you take scarfs, hats and gloves because it is very cold up mount Fuji and even colder at the top of Mt.Komagatake where we experienced high winds and snow!
