Rome (Fiumicino or Ciampino) Airport Private Departure Transfer

Rome, Italy

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

Great transfer. We called 24 hrs in advance (as directed) to confirm our pickup time where we were given some advice to alter our pickup time (rush hour concerns). The driver didn't speak much English, but was friendly and definitely knew where he was going. This transfer takes a lot of hassle out of the end of your trip.

Skip the Line: Venice in One Day Including Boat Tour

Venice, Italy

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

This was a nice tour to quickly teach you about Venice, its history and the many beautiful buildings and canals. The guide was very passionate about her job and presented us with information very enthusiastically. My one complaint was the group size was very large and had to be split into 3 separate tours...this made it very crowded, adding to the already busy narrow streets. This tour is worth doing if you want to learn about this beautiful city!

5-Day Italy Trip: Florence, Pisa and Venice

Rome, Italy

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

The Good:Got a free transfer from our hotel in Rome to get to the meeting point to go to Florence (not part of the tour, but a nice surprise)
Great hotel in Venice. Were met at the Venice Train Station and taken to our hotel (a short ways away)
Great organized transportation
Good Day tours for each city with educated, professional guides
Skip the line entrance for the tours was great

The Bad: Very poor communication when starting the tour (no one knew what hotel we were staying in, in Florence when we departed Rome...made enjoying day one of the tour a little hard). The hotel in Florence was terrible (despite selecting the 4 star option)
The descriptions of your day to day activities needs refining (schedules were not kept and things were included that were not described...so I wasted some money pre booking some museum entrances). 2 of 3 Tours in English and Spanish...took a long time to learn about what we were looking at.

Overall a good tour package, but I am sure you could arrange this yourself with a better hotel in Florence and less worry about where you are going to sleep at night.

Skip the Line: Ancient Rome and Colosseum Half-Day Walking Tour

Rome, Italy

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

This was a great tour of a very amazing part of ancient Rome. The meeting point was easy to find and we were quickly given a headset and receiver to ensure we could hear our guide during the tour. We skipped a very long line. This alone is worth the price of the tour. Our tour guide Claudia was fantastic! Trained as an archaeologist, you couldn’t ask for a more knowledgeable person to conduct the tour. Also, her passion for what she does was very evident. Claudia provided details ranging from architecture to history and tails of the gladiators all the while being surrounded by the astonishing visual images of ancient Rome. This tour is a must see and well worth it while in Rome. Just a word about water, Rome has a lot of public water fountains so fill up a bottle before going on this tour. The only other source of water/drinks in the area are the many vendors outside the Colosseum at 4 Euros a bottle, better to bring your own!

Rome (Fiumicino or Ciampino) Airport Private Arrival Transfer

Rome, Italy

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

This pickup transfer was a great idea to take the headache out of arriving at a very busy airport after a long flight. The driver was friendly and knew where he was going...but didn't speak much English. The only complaint was the driver was holding a sign with our last name spelled incorrectly (very badly), making us think that he wasn't there for us. This made the pickup take a little longer than we would have liked.

Skip the Line Private Tour: Vatican Museums and St Peter's Art History Walking Tour

Rome, Italy

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

Wow, what a tour. We were met on time by Valerio where we were quickly led past the very long line-ups into the museum (that alone is worth it the museums are very busy). I have to tell you, what a treat to have an extremely knowledgeable tour guide walk us through the Vatican Museums; I know we would not have learned nearly as much without him. Valerio was patient, allowing me to photograph everything I wanted (except the Sistine Chapel, as no photos are allowed in there) so much so that he happily went over the tour time to make sure we saw everything. The level of knowledge that he displayed about the artifacts/art in the museums was astounding. You could tell he had a passion for what he does. This tour was worth every penny and many thanks to Valerio for his time and expertise! This is a tour is a must and should not be missed if going to Rome!

Montserrat Royal Basilica Half-Day Trip from Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review
The trip to Montserrat was a very nice bus ride on a beautiful sunny day. The tour guide pointed out places of interest along the way and prepared us for what to expect when we arrived at the basilica. When we reached the basilica we offloaded the bus small group of about 12 of us and we were given some free time to take a look around the grounds. One of the options is to take a scenic walk down some pathways. I recommend taking the shorter of the 2 scenic paths so you can have some time to go back to the basilica to see the choir or to line up to see the black Madonna. The views were great and the church was very nice. It was however very crowded so use your time wisely, and there is a dress code for entering the churchno short shorts or exposed shoulders. None of our group had a problem with the dress codes, but I would hate to travel all the way up the mountain to find out that there is a dress code and not be compliant. This was a nice way to spend a half day in Spain.

Tapas Evening Walking Tour of Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review
This walking Tapas tour was fantastic. When we found our guide at the Starbucks there are 2 on Las Ramblas so look for the guides orange shirt, we were immediately greeted with a smile and an introduction. Antonio our guide seemed to have an excellent knowledge of the city, its history and of course Tapas. The Tapas was excellent in the restaurants we stopped in and the cavabeerwine was great too however there were not as many glasses of winebeer as indicated in the tourwe had 2 in total, the tour says 4. This tour took us out of the main tourist traps and into some of the nicer areas of Barcelona where we saw ancient ruins, award winning shops and historical buildings. We got some very good tips for future meals in Barcelona that were excellent. Overall, this was an excellent experience that I would recommend to anyone, especially if you want to learn a little bit about Barcelona.

Barcelona Airport Arrival Shuttle Transfer

Barcelona, Spain

My Rating
1 star rating: I do not recommend this

My Review
I booked this transfer to help make is easy when arriving in Barcelona however, getting a hold of this pickup company was a challenge. As instructed, after we gathered our luggage we found a public phone and called the toll free number 900 713 583 as indicated on the tour voucher. After dialing the number, a Spanish message come on and then hung up. After trying a couple of times, with no luck, we found a tourist info booth and asked if they could try the number the tourist rep called the number and snickered. I asked her what was wrong and she advised that the message said that this company does not accept toll free calls. Luckily the voucher has the toll number and the tourist rep was nice enough to call for me. The transfer company advise they were 5 min away and to wait by the tourist desk30 min later no driver. We went back to the tourist desk and they called again she was told the driver will be there shortly. About 15 min later, the driver came rushing over to us apologizing and quickly took out bags to put in the van. The drive knew the city and where to drop everyone off but the difficulty getting a hold of the company and the time it took to pick us up would be enough for me not to use this airport pickup service again.

Small-Group French Cooking Class in Paris

Paris, France

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review
Our host chef was very nice and spoke excellent English. We were the only 2 in the class so it was possible take our time and enjoy the experience. As a more experienced cooking couple, my wife and I would have like the recopies to be a little bit more hands on but we did learn a few things to bring home and share at our dinner parties. During the food preparation, in casual conversation with the chef, we were able to get some great sightseeing tips to the beautiful Rodin museum the gardens are very nice. We also got some advice on where to pick up some of the ingredients we used during our class. This small group cooking class was a great way to spend a few hours in Paris and a really nice way to get to know Paris from a real Parisian.

Bateaux Parisiens Dinner Cruise on the Seine

Paris, France

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review
This was the highlight of the Paris leg of my trip. The food was fantastic, the servers were excellent, the pickup and drop off service was great and the view was pretty good too! We had a private table with the Service Premier Menu well worth the extra money. We got a tour brochure telling us what we were seeing on the cruise and copies of the menu to take home. Additionally they came around and took pictures at our table for an additional cost. Normally I don't fall for these high priced tourist gimmicks...but the pictures were really much better that the ones I or my wife took. Paris at night is beautiful and you really get a good look at it from the Seine. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to enjoy good food, good service and a great view of Paris.
