With gorgeous weather, the tour itself was quite enjoyable and the mountains were more spectacular than I was expecting. Our driver/guide was adequate and pleasant, managing to cope with a wide assortment of participants who had booked a variety of options through assorted agencies. I had expected to pay the additional $21. for the rides; however, the Skyway--which we took since the cable car was out of order due to a computer malfunction, was an additional $5 per person one way and the river cruise back to Sydney an extra $8 p/p. These optional charges bring the tour's cost to the top-of-the-line level. Also, Viator's requirement to reconfirm locally by phone was horrifically frustrating. I duly called the "local" number Viator provided, only to be put on hold by the local tour agency for 18 minutes before hanging up in disgust. A desk clerk kindly helped me but informed me that the "local number" was a long distance one (in Victoria, not New South Wales).. The charge for this call from my hotel room was $36.50 with no resulting confirmation! Only when I examined the document very closely did I discover, in next to invisible type, a "toll-free" number; I had trusted Viator, wrongly, to give a "local" number which I assumed would be toll free in Sydney...it was a nice but rather expensive day out, especially with the only lunch option of another $15 per person for the very mediocre buffet lunch in the revolving restaurant.
