This trip was well worth it - having a private tour guide was the best because we could direct the tour and my kids were able to freely ask all of their questions. It was disappointing because the canopy walk was closed for renovations, but we were called the day before and told about this. It was our choice to go ahead with the tour, and it was worth it. Our guide was so knowledgeable and interesting.

We had a great time riding and bathing with the elephants. However, it is not a "private tour" once you get to the elephant sanctuary. Once there, we were among hundreds of people. The benefit of having a private tour guide, however, was that he got in line for us for our next activity and we didn't have to wait in a long line ourselves. It was quite a drive from KL, so be prepared...and toilets are not readily available and not clean! The tour title is a bit deceiving because we only spent about 2 hours with the elephants - the rest of the time was traveling, lunch in a small local cafe in a small city and a visit to Deerland near the elephant sanctuary. All in all, we had a good time, but it was not really what we were expecting. And bring a change of clothes!

It was an interesting place to visit, but there was not a whole lot to it. We were disappointed because we could not go to the temple - it was too crowded because of Chinese New Year when we went. The caves were quite a climb, and I would not recommend it for anyone who has any difficulties with climbing. My family is in great shape, and we had problems with the climb. Overall, I am glad that we went so we could say that we saw it, but I wouldn't go back again.
