Cinque Terre Hiking Day Trip from Florence

Florence, Italy

My Review
Wow, we were absolutely blow away by Cinque Terre and this amazing tour! We had Douglas as our tour guide and he was very nice and extremely knowledgeable. He knew all the best places to take us for pictures which was a major plus because I wouldnt have found these spots on my own! There were about 12 people on our tour, all ages so dont be discouraged if you are older - there is always the train if need be! Doug is very organized and really did a good job of keep track of everyone. The first two hikes were fairly easy - dont be turned off by the 300 steps up to Corniglia, they are paved short steps not steep at all and there is also a bus up to the top! Corniglia is beautiful and not as overrun by tourists like the other towns. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch up there at beautiful place overlooking the water! Afterwards we did the 3rd hike to Vernazza which was a bit harder but you can go at your own pace. This hike was my favorite because it offered spectacular views. After spending some time in Vernazza we took the train to Monterrosso instead of hiking. The 4th trail was closed due to the prior rains and we were quite eager to get to the last town anyway! I dont think they usually do this hike anymore on the tour. In the last town we changed into our swimsuits in a changing stall and went for a swim in the Mediterranean very refreshing! I HIGHLY recommend this trip to everyone it was definitely one of my favorite days while in Italy! PS if it is hot out, definitely wear shorts and a tank top. Good sneakers are important!

My Review
We really LOVED Best of Tuscany Tour and it definitely ranks as one a highlights during our Italy trip! Our guide was Tannis, and she was very sweet and very knowledgeable about Tuscany! I thought it was great that she filled us in on some history of Florence as well, a major plus! We loved seeing Siena and learning about the Palio and all the different districts with a local guide. San Gimignano was beautiful and we enjoyed some gelato from the 1 Gelaterria in the world, delicious. Pisa was great as well but our favorite stop was definitely the winery - wow what a picturesque place with rolling hills and the town of San Gimignano as the back drop. The food was AMAZING and the wine was so smooth and plentiful - we even bought two bottles to bring back with us! This tour was run very efficiently and we would not change anything about it AND you really get your moneys worth. If we tried to organize this in our own with car rental, etc, there is no way we would be able to see and enjoy everything, plus the big lunch and all the wine they serve. We are so grateful for this amazing tour!. A few side notes 1 - Get to the bus meeting place earlier than 815am if you want a decent seat, we got stuck in the last row. 2 - If you wish to order some of the wine once you get back to the US you can do so through www.parkaveliquor.com. 3 This tour company now offers a Cinque Terre Day Trip which we did and was GREAT! 4 - BOOK THIS TUSCANY TRIP, you will not regret it!!!
