The guide spent too much time on historical minutiae and dates that eventually become muddled in the listener's mind. Visitors are interested in the family stories of the Medici and others. I would have liked to have visited Santa Croce, and perhaps just strolling the back streets of Florence. We spent time hiking over to the Pitti Palace, but were not taken in. That time was wasted. Discussing current life in Florence would have been interesting, such as the flooding in 20th century. More time was spent walking that visiting inside historic spaces.

Our guide did a great job, learning everyone's name and speaking to us personally. Keeping the group small is so nice. I don't think spending much time in the museums is valuable, but seeing the Sistine and St. Peter's is worth it.

Our guide was informative and also entertaining. She kept us going despite the heat, giving us breaks for restrooms and water. The places we visited were essential to the understanding of Rome and its origins. It must be very difficult to keep the tour fresh, from the guide's point of view but she did a great job.
