Skip the Line: Small-Group Eiffel Tower Sunset Tour

Paris, France

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

We (a married couple and a female friend, all about 65), did this tour in late May 2013.
I recommend this tour highly. The guide, Stephanie? was excellent!
After all the rain that day, we were delighted that the clouds lifted in time for our tour, giving us the opportunity of viewing the city with the sun shining on it, as our guide pointed out places of interest and told us some of the history. We did get to see the sun set from the tower, at 9.33 pm! We also enjoyed the tower lit up, and the sparkly flashing lights all over the tower, which comes on at 10.00 and lasts for five minutes. We were part of a crowd looking at it, like kids watching the lights on a Christmas tree.

Montmartre Impressionist Art Walking Tour Including Skip-the-Line Musee d’Orsay Ticket

Paris, France

My Review

We (a married couple and a female friend, all about 65), did this tour in late May 2013.
I recommend this tour highly. The guide, Timothy, was excellent!
We went to Montparnasse and did a walking tour through some of the area famous because of its former artist residents such as Renoir and other famous impressionists. We heard how the impressionist era began there, and saw where some artists lived and painted. Unfortunately it was raining.
At the Musee d’Orsay, even though we had pre-booked tickets to “skip the line” we still had to wait in line for 45 minutes. Maybe it would have been better to go early in the morning instead of in the afternoon. We only went to the fifth floor, but saw many paintings by Monet, Renoir, Gauguin, Pissarro and other famous artists, some of whom we had heard about earlier on the tour. It was a great art experience for us all, we loved it.

Orange, Les Baux de Provence and Arles Small Group Day Trip

My Review

We (a married couple and a female friend, all about 65), did this tour in late May 2013.
The guide, Anais? was very good. The day started slowly, we went to a winery and we spent far too long there, but that's what you get when you do a tour, they try to meet everyone's interests. This time it wasn't ours. We could have spent more time in Orange, where the amazing Roman theatre is. It is one of 3 in the world, but this one is in the best condition, and is still being used for all kinds of musical events. We did a short walking tour of Arles, which was a very important Roman city, so has an amphitheatre and lots of other Roman sites, mostly ruins. Arles was one place that Van Gogh lived, so part of the tour took us to some of the sites he had painted. I liked that. We also visited a small village Les Baux de Provence, built into cliffs, now only has 22 people living there, but over 1.5 million visitors.

Roman Sites Small Group Day Trip from Avignon

I recommend this tour highly. The guide, Veronica? was excellent!
It is hard to believe that some of the sites we saw today are over 2000 years old. The Roman amphitheatre at Nimes is the best preserved Roman amphitheatre in the world, where they shot the movie Gladiator. The weekend just gone was a long weekend and they had their version of the running of the bulls. Then we saw the most impressive building, the Maison Carree, a Roman temple, a huge rectangular building with columns at the front. Then we went on to the pleasant historic town of Uzes, where we had time for a short stroll. The best was to come, the aqueduct the Pont Du Gard. This is an amazing arched structure stretching over the river Gardon. One of the wonders of the ancient world, it was built in 1st century A.D. and is still in good condition.

Skip the Line: Vatican Museums Walking Tour including Sistine Chapel, Raphael's Rooms and St Peter's

My Review

We (a married couple and a female friend, all about 65), did this tour in early May 2013.
I recommend this tour highly. We only had a short wait for security screening and avoided the very long line which had already formed at 9 a.m. We had been to the Vatican Museums before, but learnt so much more this time. The guide was excellent, the rooms were not yet crowded, and we actually got to sit down briefly in the Sistine Chapel!

My Review
We did not appreciate showing up early at the Viator office and waiting until being marched to the tour operator's office a few blocks away, and then being seated last on the bus, so that we could not sit together. The places we went to were interesting, the guides were knowledgeable. We could have done without the 2 hour stops for lunch and with more time at the attractions. The hotel rooms were fine but catering and meals were only adequate.
