London East End Food Tour

London, United Kingdom

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour - loved all the places we visited and all the food we got to eat. Also got to see some very interesting street art by the likes of Space Invader and Banksy and learnt a bit about the history of the East End. Our guide Nicole was enthusiastic and friendly - you could see that she truly loved the area and it's history, the people and the food. Highly recommended ! :-)

Beatles and Liverpool Rail Day Trip from London

London, United Kingdom

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

Wonderful trip - truly a magical mystery tour ! Must-do for all Beatles fans - only wish I had the option to stay at least overnight so that I could have spent more time listening to great live music at the legendary Cavern !
Makes me wanna go back to Liverpool again for another visit - this time for at least 2-3 days. Most of the tour is independent and self guided , but that just suits me fine as it allows me to decide how long I want to spend shopping for Beatles-related merchandise or otherwise, as well as how long I wanted to stay in the Cavern. The first class train ticket came with meals included, and the comfortable seating plus excellent wifi on board made the journey seem quite short. You have to find your own way when you arrive at Lime Street Station to the Beatles exhibition at Albert Dock and also your own way back from the Cavern to the station for the journey home, which was actually not too difficult especially with the help of the friendly locals.

Delicious and definitely very generous portions for the high tea, which was accompanied by lovely live piano music, in a wonderful setting. Great for catching up with friends over good food, which was what I did. :-)

Milan Half-Day Sightseeing Tour with da Vinci's 'The Last Supper'

Milan, Italy

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

The highlight of this was the viewing of Leonardo's Last Supper. This is the way to ensure you get your full 15 minutes worth of the wonderful painting, with minimal hassle. The rest of the tour was also interesting for a first-timer to Milan.

Skip the Line: Florence Accademia and Uffizi Gallery Tour

Florence, Italy

My Rating
2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

My Review

The Accademia tour was good as the guide was good and it was interesting to see David from many different points of view other than the usual one in countless photos of him. The idea of having a break between the 2 parts of this tour is good as it allows you to spend more time in the first location or do something else in between but it would probably have been better to do the Uffizi in the morning and Accademia in the afternoon instead as we did not have enough time in the Uffizi. Our Uffizi tour was literally rained out as there was heavy rains that day plus a hailstorm. We managed to make our way there on time despite that BUT our guide did not. In the end, we resorted to doing Uffizi on our own as we did not want to waste precious time waiting in vain for the guide, who apparently could not be contacted. There were also closures of several sections of the gallery due to the rains, so that was another disappointment.

Highly recommended, especially for those who may not have tried their hand at making fresh pasta before. Both the chef and his assistant were very friendly and helpful and the food turned out great as well.

Murano, Burano and Torcello Half-Day Sightseeing Tour

Venice, Italy

My Rating
1 star rating: I do not recommend this

My Review

The Murano visit was mainly to see a glass-blowing demonstration, followed by browsing in the gift shop - no time to look around the island at all. We also did not have enough time to walk around in Burano, which is a really pretty place because of the wonderfully coloured houses/buildings, with great photo opportunities. So we decided to leave the tour at Torcello and make our own way back to Burano to spend more there. It is actually quite simple to do so if you have bought a day pass for the vaporetto, which will allow you to go out to these islands on your own and make your way back at leisure. The guide only gave commentaries while we were on the ferry - these were a bit confusing and rambling at times as we had to listen to her say the same thing in 4 different languages.

Skip the Line: Venice in One Day Including Boat Tour

Venice, Italy

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

Yet another 2 part itinerary. First, a walking tour beginning in St Mark's Square, followed later in the afternoon by a tour in a boat.I found the second part was also interesting as we went around practically the whole of the Grand Canal - generally, good for an overview of Venice, so you can decide which parts to explore further.
