My Review
This is a big and long day, not for the feint-hearted. But the quality of the destinations, the excellence of the lunch-stop and vineyard tour and the beauty of the countryside are well worth it. There is no way we would have seen or learned so much had we tried to tackle it ourselves. Any gripes For a long day tour in a bus the seating pitch in our row at anyway was way too tight. But I am 6 foot - people with shorter legs might not have any issue with this at all. The aircon coped well with the 34 degree C temperature. Our guide was terrific, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable, a graduate, highly educated and very helpful with little insights. As a photographer I really enjoyed the amount of time available for one's own discovery. As almost the only tour to take in Pisa as well as the rest of the area more commonly covered, I was almost overwhelmed by what we managed to see. The lunch, I repeat, was exceptional and much higher quality food and wine than the price we paid for the tour suggested would be the case. Bravo!

When you know that perhaps 30 of the world's most important art is located in one smallish city, it's extraordinary to have two so wonderfully well-qualified art historians with so much passion for what they were showing us. Only downside of the day was a modest lunch with slight confusion after visiting the one and only David original statue in the museum. The queues, for high summer, were entirely reasonable and delays only minor. The Ufizzi tour covers but a tiny portion of the whole. But the quality of the tour was absolutely first class in every sense. Truly an exceptional day. Viator coordination was once again professional and exemplary and their local partners were well above expectation.

Well planned, exhausting, even with pre-booking a July visit was still a 30 minute line just to get in. Unescorted one is inclined to be overwhelmed by the huge volume of material. Just not possible to take it all in in one day. But after 5 hours and a 45 minute walk top get there, it's enough. Glorious artworks, but diminished by the huge crowds and press of people trying to move on. I would never again attempt this in July, but the access speed and organisation really benefited us and our organiser was professional and delightful, as well as being very organised.
