A great day trip from Koh Samui with a variety of activities - something for everyone!

An easy day trip from Bangkok if you want to get a sense of the the history of the area. The temples are fairly ruined so don't expect Angkor Wat but they are interesting all the same and the boat trip back to Bangkok is very enjoyable.

I booked a transfer when I arrived in Phuket for a 10-day holiday in July 2011. With the usual buzz of touts and taxi drivers at the arrival gate, it was a relief to see our tour rep and to be whisked into an air-conditioned minivan. Despite a short wait to collect the other passengers, the transfer was quick and efficient and the rep was friendly and helpful. We arrived at our hotel in Kata about 1 hour after arriving, which was not bad given that we had to make a few stops along the way.

Would thoroughly recommend doing again simply to avoid the hassle on arrival.

The price of the transfer was reasonable, however it is probably worth checking with your hotel upon departure to see whether they can arrange something cheaper – depending on where you stay, it may be easier and more cost-efficient to get a booked taxi to return to you to the airport, particularly if there is a group of you.

Great trip if you only have a few days in Bangkok and want to see something more than just the main temples. Some walking and local bus transport but no problems if you are reasonably fit. Take water! Good tour guide who knew what he was talkiong about. Recommended.

Wouldn't bother with this - taxis at Bangkok airport are cheap, clean and plentiful, even late at night when I arrived. My transfer greeter was at another arrival area when I came out of the gate and I then had to wait another 20 - 30 minutes while he located the other passengers and then his driver. I could have made it to my hotel much quicker on my own in a cab. Wouldn't recommend unless you really don't like cabs.
