Great trip. The garden at Giverny was spectacular, lunch was excellent, Versailles was overcrowded but worth the visit. As there were around 20 people on this trip the group was split into two, with two guides. Everyone could hear what they were saying and they were most informative. The set lunch at the picturesque 17th century watermill at Fourges(which was hardly mentioned in the itinerary) was a definite bonus. If we return to France, I'd do the same trip again - it was good value for money.
We did the same tour 2 years ago and it was fantastic then. This time it rained - I mean really rained! There was a thunderstorm and everyone was soaked. This was no fault of our guide but, because of it, the tour was cut short. A few spare umbrellas in the coach would have been handy. Also, it was last afternoon tour of the season and combined with the storm it suddenly got very dark while we were at Hadrian's villa - not too good for taking photos. On any other day the tour would have been great - we were just unlucky.
