We had a wonderful trip! Truly extraordinary. The other people on the tour didn't show up so it became a virtual private tour for me and my husband. Alejandro, the guide, was fabulous, sharing things and pointing us in the right direction with great ease, generosity and humor. The Dali Museum is a not to be missed experience. Get in early to avoid the crush. The lunch beside the bay at Cadaques and the trip to Dali's house was very rewarding. And to cap it all, the drive and walk in Cap de Creus was extraordinary. Very satisfying.
Great tour. There were just four of us on the tour so we got total personal attention from Lydia who was really really good and very well informed and charming and funny. The drive up is spectacular but the line inside the cathedral was very long and we couldn't go any where close to the Black Virgin. The much talked about choir which is supposed to sing in the afternoons on weekdays was not in evidence. The funicular ride up to the top is quite smooth and the views on top are spectacular if you are willing to do a little hike. But the place itself and the histories Lydia told us were very involving. All in all, we are glad we made it.
Sagrada Familia is a revelatory experience. Absolutely don't miss!!!! And read up about Gaudi before going - it will make your trip so much more rewarding. The really bad part was the tour company itself. My husband and I landed up half an hour earlier and were told to wait, then shunted off in a cab with a trainee who just handed us the skip the line tickets at the gate and disappeared! No guide, no explanation, just dumped on our own in the middle of hundreds of people. We rented audio guides but just not the same! What's worse, the tour had left us with just one hour to do Sagrada because they had another tour guide picking us up for the tour to Monserrat in the afternoon, leaving no time for lunch in between. Its impossible to do Sagrada in an hour. You have to wait 15 minutes in line to just get into the elevator to go up to the towers! And you have to walk down hundreds of steps. Very little time and very bad handling. If they were just going to leave us on our own, they could have told us to carry on half an hour earlier since we came early. Any way, do get skip the line tickets because the lines are humungous.
