My Review
Great way to get from the north to the south island. Great scenery, particularly upon entering the southern channel. On the morning ferry, it was a bit hazy the first part of the trip. But it was a very reasonable cost.

Nice way to see the scenery - both the coast and the countryside. Observation car open-air is a great idea. And all at a reasonable price. Food on train was passable only - eat first or bring something along!
