Tour guide had little idea of the military museum in the Doges Palace, so it was skipped through in favour of endless references to paintings..disappointing.

Saw the main points in Venice so it was useful in that degree.

Our only quibble was that the stop-over at Torcello was too short...a mere 30 minutes..otherwise the boat trip was good if somewhat restricted in view since the window frame was in 2 parts and was joined at exactly eye-level. It seemed that other open-topped boats had better viewing points in their design.

Nice venue as being in the evening it was cool and less busy than during the day. The guide had good english but she defaulted to local history around ghost sites which seemed to be necessary since there appeared to be a dearth of ghosts in Venice. :)

Both towns were outstanding in their own ways..a long hot day but well worth the views from San Gimigano alone.

Well it was the statue of David and little else..if you like sculpture you will be in heaven....

You have to be quite fit to take this tour on in high summer. There's little shade and a few tourists were looking ragged by the end of a long day. It was a fact-packed day and enjoyable.
