The stars of our tour was the countryside, and the towns of Cortona and Montepulciano. The views and the the two villages are absolutely beautiful. We wanted a break from the big city of Rome, and my wife had for years wanted to see these two towns, because the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun" (one of her favorites) was filmed in these two towns. We stopped for lunch at this rustic farm, more of a B and B with a nice restaurant setting. The food was good, and we enjoyed some fresh figs picked right off their tree, awesome. The winery tour and the wine tasting was very nice. I have been on many wine tours, so maybe knew what to expect, but it was very nice. The shops in both villages offered unique gifts and ideas not found in Rome. Our daughter purchased a very nice leather bag in Cortona and a pair of shoes in Montepulciano. Our tour guide was very good at explaining all the interesting information right from the drive to the towns and the history and culture both villages. I think he may have been disappointed in that our tour had only 11 persons, and it may have impacted on his earnings. He was informative and pleasant, but unfortunately for us, a little on the boring side. On the return ride to Rome barely a word was spoken. Nevertheless we made the best of the day, enjoyed our free time in both villages. We just wish we had more time for that. I hope you like the photos I have attached to this review.
