The Venice by Night tour was a good mix of the walking tour and the gondola ride. The content of the walking tour wasn't too heavy and it showed us a side of Venice we probably wouldn't have explored otherwise which was good. The gondola ride was longer than I had expected which was good - the only thing is that you share a gondola with up to 5 other people and apart from the 2 normal chairs the others have to sit on make shift stool like seats which don't face directly straight so if you were after a romantic gondola ride then I would recommend getting another private one.

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour which covers a lot of the history in an interesting and snap shot format. It is also helpful in that it explains what all the most important pieces are about and really gives you context to what you are looking at - great for people like me who go into the tour without doing much research! It was really good how the guide explained exactly what we would see in the Sistine Chapel so you could appreciate the work.

It was tricky to find the start of the tour as it is above the metro but I seemed to be the only one who struggled to read the instructions so maybe that isn't an issue. The tour was good and covered all the relevant bits and pieces in the Colosseum and then spent a good half or so of the time in the Roman Forum which I found a bit boring as you had to imagine what the town would have been like and the guide assumed we knew the history and people she was talking about which made me lose interest a bit as i didn't know who she was talking about. Otherwise it was a good tour highlighting the importance of the history in the area.

The tour was amazing and the scenery breathtaking for most of the bus ride. It is a long day though so be prepared to travel in the bus for a considerable time to get to the 4 or so places - when you get there though they are worth the bus ride! Our guide obviously wasn't a morning person as she was quite grumpy for the first half hour but then she livened up and was really funny. It can take some time to get through border control at both Croatia and Dubrovnik but Kotor Bay was amazing and the crazy drive up the side of the cliff is both exhilirating and scary and you get the best pictures!
