My husband and I took this tour last week and would thoroughly recommend it. Our guide was very enthusiastic and had excellent English. She was full of knowledge and keen to ensure that we learnt as much as possible and felt free to ask as many questions as we wanted. We visited two different wineries, and tasted a lot of lovely wines. St Emilion is absolutely beautiful, and the lunch recommendation from our guide was spot on. A great way to see this wonderful part of France.
Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this tour, just on the basis that I think you can enjoy the areas of Barcelona we explored and the museum more effectively on your own. Our guide was very enthusiastic and friendly, with excellent English but it was a big group and it was hard to keep up through the busy streets and to hear over the radio system. I think strolling the lovely old streets of gothic Barcelona at your own pace would be much better, where you can stop and look up, take photos and take an alley that appeals.
The Picasso Museum is absolutely superb, a wonderful museum of fabulous art in a magnificant 14th century building. I don't think the ticket lines were too long, so skipping the line with our tour didn't hold enough advantage to make this tour worthwhile in my opinion. It's also not ideal to try and appreciate paintings in a group, you couldn't see properly or really hear the guide's explanations and then it was quickly onto the next painting.
I feel bad criticising the tour, as I'm not sure there was anything the guide could have done to make it better. Barcelona is very accessible so with a good guidebook I don't think a guide adds anything.
I know it's been said a million times before, but the Sagrada Familia is really a sight to behold. It's a magnificant concept and building, and a total joy to learn about Gaudi and his ideas.
Our guide was very jolly. with good English, but everything he said had to be repeated in Spanish, which was a bit irritating just because it held things up. I know that sounds a bit mean as we were in Spain, but we just thought we were signed up to a English tour.
Great area to explore, and worth learning about the outside of the building as well as the inside.
We did the night tour, and it was a really lovely experience. Our guide Nadia was very jolly and as usual with these guides, she had excellent English. She was very enthusiastic about Gaudi and knew a lot about the building.
Seeing it at night, especially the roof top with the views over Barcelona was really lovely. We had a glass of cava at the end of the tour which was so relaxing. Would definitely recommend this tour, especially after a hot busy day of sightseeing.
