Florence Walking Tour

We took this tour just for some background on the city. The tour was run by CAF tours. Our guide had to do English and Spanish which bogged down the tour alittle. She did an alright job, but was not enthusuastic at all. If you find a similar tour by a different tour group, skip this one......Joe

Cinque Terre Hiking Day Trip from Florence
Florence, Italy
My Rating

Excellent trip, I did this one the day after the Tuscany in one day tour run by the same group, Walkabout tours. I will state that walkabout and its guides are first class. This tour was about 13 hours start to finish, so rest up. Also were sneakers or hiking shoes, it is an intermediate type of hike. The bus left from Florence and bought us to Manorola. Guided tour through the town then train to Corniglia. Guided tour through town then up 382 steps for a great view. Lunch at a restaurant overlooking the sea with very good food. After lunch is the hike, and it is physical. The hike is for approx. 2.5 km, on narow winding trails overlooking the sea, awesome views! After arriving in Vernazza I treated myself to a cold beer. Then boarded the train for Monterosso. Time to tour the city on your own for about 1 hr. The ferry was running and the sea was like glass. We took the ferry to Riomaggire, more time there to explore also. Then the train to LaSpezia to meet up with our bus. Bus back to Florence arrived about 8:45 pm. Highly recommended. Our giude was Sandra, she was the best! .......Joe

Tuscany in One Day Sightseeing Tour

Excellent trip! We stayed in Florence for 4 days and did this one on day two. Be advised it is a long day ( 12 plus hrs.) but definetely worth it. Siena was the first stop, toured the city with a local tour guide (Barbara). Nice overview of the city and its famous horse races. Then went to a vineyard outside of San Gimignano for lunch, wine tasting and a tour of the grounds. After that we went to San Gimignano for a self guided tour of the town. Then to Pisa. We opted for the climb of the tower of Pisa. Only 1 hour was alloted for Pisa but in my opinion the tower climb is the most important thing to do there in a short time, crossed it off my bucket list. Back to Florence by 8:30 pm. Walkabout tours organized the tour, excellent job! It was well planned, organized, and executed. Hats off to Stefano our tour guide, outstanding job! BTW, we did the Cinque Terre trip the next day, very doable if you are in fairly good shape...Joe

Skip the Line: Best of Venice Walking Tour including Basilica di San Marco

This is a good tour for first timers in Venice. The roughly two hour tour stated near the Rialto Bridge and ended at St. Marks square. I would recommend upgrading to include the Doge Palace, very interesting. The tour was run by Dark Rome, a reputable tour group from my experience. We had Frederika as our guide, she made it fun and interesting. She was very knowledgeable, is a local, and quizzed us on the places that she introduced us too. Well worth it, with the Doge Palace the tour was 3.5 hrs., enough to give you the lay of the land and some background and history.
