I found the castles very interesting, and our guide was extremely knowledgeable. As interesting as the castles however, was seeing the countryside south of Paris and the picaresque villages we drove through. The day I took this trip, temperatures were in the 90s so it was exhausting, but with normal temps, I think the trip would have been perfect.

Giverny was beautiful and Versailles was too. We went to Giverny in the morning, had lunch at the Moulin de Fourges (sp?) and then visited Versailles in the afternoon. I wonder if the trip to Versailles might not be better in the morning when there might be fewer tourists, and then schedule the Giverny visit in the afternoon. I loved the restaurant where we had lunch. The setting was beautiful and the meal was great. I really liked having a meal included in the tour. One suggestion: Allow some time for bathroom visits and handwashing before meal.

This trip was fantastic. Our guide was wonderful: she spoke very good English and was very knowledgeable about the history of St. Michel. She also was very encouraging to me when I thought I couldn't make it to the top.
I was a little disappointed in the "medieval village" as it was described in travel sites because it was basically a lot of tourist shops rather than a village where people live and work. This trip was also enjoyable because one sees a lot of the Normandy countryside on the way to St. Michel and back.

If you take this tour, you better be in shape because it involves going up and down many steep hills. It was an exhausting trip for me (but again temps were in the 90s), and if I had it to do over, I would take some kind of bus tour. Our guide was very nice and had lots of info to share about the area.
