Guides were outstanding, especially Joy. They were knowledgeable, fun, and took time to get to know each customer. Delphi and Meteora were beautiful. Would have liked to have seen more than one monastery after a 12-hour round trip to get there. So we hired a cab and did some on our own. VERY disappointed with the hotel. I was ASSURED by person at Viator call center that it was in the village, not 7km away as the negative trip advisor reviews stated. Felt we were knowingly deceived. So we could not walk anywhere from the hotel as they had promised. Plus - this was supposed to be an "upgrade luxury hotel." It was the worst of the 5 we stayed at while in Greece, and we did not stay at expensive hotels. I think they just tell you you're getting an "upgrade" when really they're just throwing everyone in the same tourist class hotel that they were going to use anyway. No one at Viator could tell me what the "tourist class" option was. There is clearly a deal between Amalia and the bus companies. It was a bus dumping ground, and the "restaurant" felt like a school cafeteria with tourists being herded in assembly line fashion. They kept running out of food and you'd have to wait 20 minutes for an item to be replenished. Not the cultural experience we'd hoped for. And on a 2-day tour, it is strange for both lunches to be "sandwiches on your own dime at the gas station." Not what we expected from Viator or for that price.
