Vienna City Hop-on Hop-off Tour

My Review: A word to the wise: This tour is split into three separate bus routes. In May, they start running every 30 minutes, however, the small print says that they run after 5pm only after June 1st, which sort of left us stranded at the Hofburg, but we were able to walk back to the Opera House. The drivers were very good and negotiated the tough Vienna traffic with ease.

My Review: I don't know whether it was luck or not, but our driver was waiting for us directly outside our train wagon when we arrived. The guy was incredible and took all of our suitcases and gave a running tour on the way to the hotel. He then refused to accept a 10 Euro tip, saying it was his pleasure!

Prague Night Tour and River Vltava Dinner Cruise

My Review: I was not happy with this tour. We were crammed onto a larger boat with approximately 100 other people. It was crowded and noisy and people were back to back in the seats making it very hard to get up or sit down. Many people were seated in a row against the wall, and it one person on the end had to stand up, the entire row had to stand up and let the person out. It was very uncomfortable and restrictive. The food was very basic and not what I would consider the height of Czech cuisine. It disappeared as soon as it was put out and the same happened with each resupply. There was no line control with people constantly jumping the queue, and the live band was playing pops instead of Czech music. Not good value for the money, unfortunately.

My Review: If you only have one day in Prague, this is the tour for you. You get the highlights of the city with a great guide on a very structured schedule. Our guide showed us through the secret passage from the monastery to the castle which was on an even angle and we did not have to negotiate a steep road.

Panoramic Salzburg City Tour plus Austrian Lakes and Mountains Sightseeing Tour

My Review: A very nice trip through Salzburg with a very knowledgeable guide led into a wonderful excursion to a rural pilgrimage site and a boat trip. The boat was, unfortunately, very crowded, but it was a pleasure to wander through the small village. I would have liked to have more time in the village, but one can always return there on one's own.

Berchtesgaden and Eagle's Nest Day Tour from Munich

My Review: This tour was out of sight! Our guide was exceptional and the trip to the Eagle's Nest was nothing short of spectacular! The weather was incredible and I was told that days like that only occur about ten times a year. The steep mountain roads provide spectacular views on the way there. If you take the tour of the little museum, make sure to follow the dirt path down the side of the mountain to see the remaining foundations of Hitler's home at the base of the mountain which the allies had ordered to be destroyed.

Romantic Road, Rothenburg and Harburg Day Tour from Munich

My Review: The trip was really nice, and Rothenburg is a wonderful town, full of great restaurants and lots of history. The guide was very knowledgeable and the tour of Harburg castle was outstanding. There is a rather steep walk up steps and a road to get to the castle, and there are no alternative methods, so it may prove too difficult for handicapped or older folks.
