Eiffel Tower, Paris Moulin Rouge Show and Seine River Cruise
Paris, France
My Rating

It is highly doubtful that anyone makes it up to the Eiffel Tower for dinner. Upon arriving at the tour site we were informed that due to the lift lines at the Eiffel Tower our dinner was canceled and we were going somewhere else. For me, this was the main point of booking this tour, and it was on my birthday. I feel that if you are to offer 'dinner at the Eiffel Tower' then as a company you should do everything to ensure that the people who paid good money for the experience actually get that experience. Because the restaurant indicated dressy attire, I bought an expensive frock (as it was my birthday) and the refund of 10 Euros was scant recompense for the ruined evening. I dissuade everyone from purchasing this tour, and rather make reservations at the restaurant and the Moulin Rouge yourself. Please do note that the restaurant requires months in advance for a reservation. The Seine River cruise was fine; it was pouring the day we went so I am sure that the sights would have been better had weather permitted. The Moulin Rouge show was phenomenal, but again, I would recommend booking each activity separately since timing is a huge issue. Also, apparently there is a real Cabaret in Montmarte on Tuesdays....food for thought.

Montmartre and Sacre Coeur Walking Tour in Paris
Paris, France
My Rating

This was an amazing walking tour. The guide was an English speaker and shared with us all the history of Montmarte. Because it was raining, our group was only 5 people which gave us a better experience and the ability to ask questions. Montmarte was such an influential part of the history of Paris, as was its impact on the art world. My only slightly negative take away was that we ended up at the Sacre Coeur and it wasn't really part of the tour. C'est la vie- it is free to enter Sacre Coeur, and only 8 Euros to go down into the Catacombs. I had arrived early and gone into the church, as well as the Musee de Montmarte (highly recommended), so all in all it was a perfect 2 hours.

Champagne Region Day Trip from Paris
Paris, France
My Rating

For anyone who enjoys champagne (and who doesn't), this is a perfect tour! Mumm's caves were breathtaking and the tour was incredibly informative and relatable. The champagne is delicious (I bought 3 bottles), however I wish that we were able to 'taste' more than just one glass. From the tasing room at Mumm we ventured further into Reims to Notre-Dame de Reims (Our Lady of Rheims), the Roman Catholic cathedral of Reims, where the kings of France were once crowned. We had the option of a guided tour of the cathedral (highly recommended), or wander the area alone. Lunch is on your own. Moet and Chandon is the pinnacle of luxury, and their tasting room screams opulence. From the private room which Napoleon I and his entourage lavishly dined and wined, to the video narrated by Scarlett Johansson, Moet and Chandon leaves you speechless. The guide explained how the wine is aged over 20 years in one specific Rose Champagne and how it will market at over $3000 Euros and Canada will only receive 6 Bottles! Again, I wish we could have sampled more than just one Champagne, but I did have to purchase a bottle. The prices are less expensive at the Duty Free area in CDG airport, but it is the experience that is worthwhile!

Versailles and Giverny Day Trip
Paris, France
My Rating

Going to Claude Monet's home was one of the reasons for my trip to France. Being in his garden, and seeing the lily pads themselves was something akin to otherworldly. Words just cannot express the beauty and splendor of Giverny. Afterwards we went to lunch at Moulin de Forges. Beware of the cat! I am a cat lover, so I had to feed her. Such a spoiled kitty eating Fish Pate. Versailles was next. From the opulence you can understand why there had to be a revolution. I would suggest going to Versailles again, sans trip - we only had a little bit of time and you need more than 1.5 hours to take in the beauty and sheer luxury that is Versailles. Also, the garden needs special attention. Another reason for a return trip!
