The trip would have been even more fantastic if it had been a clear sunny day instead of being completely overcast and rainy, and for safety reasons we actually couldn't take the cable cars up the mountain but did the cogwheel train both ways, which actually was a lot of fun and had amazing views and quite an impressively steep incline!!! At the top it was snowing and cold, but I am glad I did the ten minute hike to the summit because for just a few minutes the fog cleared and we were able to see the gorgeuos views of the lake and landscape below and take pictures! After the tour we had the cruise on the lake which was absolutely gorgeous. The other travelers were nice and friendly and from different parts of the world and made some new friends.. Our guide was amazing and very friendly. Overall it was a fantastic experience! Def 5 stars...
Awesome trip, friendly and very knowledgeable guide..he was a high school grad, very fun and energetic...ice caves were breathtaking and something truly worth seeing. No photography allowed because of some previous fatalities apparently. there are lots of steps and its very dark, we all carried lanterns inside, was quite fun! The short hike up to the mouth of the caves was fun as well... I would definitely recommend it as a tour if in Salzburg for 2 days or more.
Enjoyed this as I watched the movie several times as a kid...it was awesome visiting all the places I remembered seeing, and learning the trivia. The church in Mondsee was beautiful, the apple strudels delicious.. and the guide was funny and interesting. not quite enough time to really spend at a some of the spots, but overall a very enjoyable day trip.
Am disappointed, as it didnt quite work out the way I had hoped. First of all missed my flight into Vienna from Paris because of delayed connections. When I called on arrival to Paris, to inform the tour people they said the driver had been to the airport and returned and they couldnt pay for another shuttle to pick me at a later time. Even though the delay was not my fault. The package was at the hotel for me, and had the maps and stuff, the coupon for the Cafe Central was good, I loved the dessert and coffee there, but never got to use the dinner/meal voucher as there was already so much to see, do and eat at Vienna . Also I realized that the trains and public transport (U-Bahn network) is so good that you dont really need a shuttle to pick you from the airport, there was a metro station just a few blocks from my hotel once I had a map I was able to use it to get anywhere. Also the hop-on-hop-off isnt that great, I still had to pay for it at a small discount it wasnt free as I had misunderstood. The Vienna card is good all public transport is free but as I didnt have the package until I actually reached my hotel the first night (no shuttle) I had to pay for the initial transfers to the city center using the airport train and then the U Bahn to the station near my hotel. Would not recommend this.
