This was the best day of our holiday! The tour guide Giovanna was amazing. Very enthusiastic, informative and funny. She made what could of been a long boring bus ride very entertaining and interesting. The climb of Vesuvius was steep but the view from the top was incredible. And then to cap off an already excellent day we went to pompeii of course, and there are not enough positive adjectives to describe what we saw. I was expecting well preserved ruins but what we saw was more than that. You really got the sense you were in another time. We were given a different guide here and he was very good as well. He really knew his stuff and he answered any questions we had. All in all it was a fantastic day!! I would recommend this trip to anyone going to Rome!
This tour was supposed to be on a Friday morning, but when we turned up there was nobody there so we gave the company a ring. As it turned out they had tried to contact me the day before (my phone was switched off and when I turned it on I did indeed have a voicemail) to tell us that the guide couldn't do the tour that day due to personal circumstances and that it could be rearranged for another day. We agreed to do the tour on the saturday and we were offered a free tour for the inconvience, which I thought was really generous as it was my fault for turning off my phone. The tour we got was the ghosts and mysteries tour (which I would recommend to anyone interested in not just the mysteries and ghost stories but also the little bits of history dotted all over rome that you might not notice).
On the saturday morning we began the angels and demons tour and it was all very interesting. We also got a nice surprise when we realised we going to travel to all the spots by air conditioned coach. Which was a nice relief as it was a very hot day!! The guide was very nice and very sweet, she gave us a lot of information about the individual sites and the differences between the book/film and the actual settings. The only semi negative thing (which is why the tour has 4 stars instead of 5) is that the guide was quite soft spoken and in some locations it was difficult to hear what she was saying as there was a (german) group there and their guide spoke quite loudly. So not entirely her fault.
