Did not enjoy this tour. First bus used was older and several of the ports did not work plus only half of top level open. Long waits at various stops along the route with no indication of how long each stop would be. 2nd bus was newer with all of top open but still lengthy delays at stops. The ticket taker wasn't engaged in what she was doing. Would not recommend this tour to others! Route double back in a few locations such that we saw the same places up to 3 times. In between the description of various sites there was just music in the background. Would prefer at least some further dialogue about Rome, its history, relevant facts or what ever.
An excellent tour although covered a lot of ground and history in 3 hours. Francesca was very easy to understand and had some very interesting facts and details to pass along. She used some visual aids that were really helpful. One was Rome Past and Present and she got us a 1/3 discount from the vendor on the way by. Took the morning tour so we would have more time to wander around on our own in Palatine and Forum. Would recommend this tour but particularly this guide to others. Would be a good idea to suggest to others that they bring their own ear phones if they have same as it would be better with 2 ear plugs than the standard one plug. Reduces the background noise with all of the other tours and hence guides as well as public talking around you.
Both guides knew their stuff in terms of art history and shared excellent facts about the pieces we were seeing. Fast paced tours and while nice to have more time to explore other parts of both certainly focused on high points. Both guides did a good job of moving us around among other tours to get the best vantage points possible. Both guides we are also easy to understand and best to keep up with them so near the front of the tour to get the best reception possible on the ear phones. Suggest you bring your own double ear plugs if only single ear plugs provided as this helps block out background noise from other guides and the public. A lot of visuals to absorb but well worth the cost of the guided tour just to skip the long lines plus having an explanation of what you were actually looking at. Would recommend to others but be sure you get a guide that has a good grasp of the English language if that is the tour you have selected.
