LOVE travel! I was widowed last year but it hasn't stopped me from traveling alone or with friends and family. I have enjoyed visiting many countries, but I think my next trip will be to see more of the US.
I have used the hop on hop off bus in many cities around the world, however this one in Rome was awful!! It doesn't get off the main roads so unless you are willing to weave your way through the alleys you won't see any of the amazing fountains (including four rivers or trevi), Spanish Steps, or even the Pantheon. Most city tours will take you right by the sights and you can choose to just snap a photo or get off for awhile. At the end of the day, the un-announced 20 minute delay for staff breaks almost made us miss our bus back to the cruise ship. If you are on a tight schedule, go with a guided tour that is sure to get you back when you need to be back.
There was a little confusion at the meeting place as some people were taking a guided tour and some a self-guided tour but it was straightened out quickly and we got right in.
