Sit back, relax, enjoy the sunshine and with a bit of luck view dolphin and whales. Sydney harbour has the famous Opera House, the harbour bridge, quiet coves, secluded beaches and soaring headlands. This is a personalized tour and the operators are passionate about whales!

French Wine Tasting

Paris

My Recommendation Tip

France is a great place to go wine tasting. There are 3 simple rules: look, smell, taste! At this stage the professional taster will spit the wine out, while the amateur taster (like myself) will swallow it. You can book a French Wine Tasting in Paris through Viator. The cavern cellar of O Chateau is located nearby the Louvre. The setting is intimate, the class informative and fun for those with knowledge and novice alike. The sommeliers are passionate, personable, charming and have a great sense of humor. The wine is accompanied by cheese, a variety of breads and coldcuts. A must do. Viator offers other wine tasting tours in the Champagne region, from Bordeaux, Dijon, Avignon and Rheims. Santé!

Amsterdam Bike Rental

Netherlands

My Recommendation Tip

Biking in Amsterdam is the most popular and most efficient form of getting around. A not to miss Dutch experience. A few road rules: Use the right side of the road and just ride with the traffic. Watch out for trams. Always give right of way for trams from any direction, you will hear the clanging of their bells. Lock it when you leave it or it will be gone. Viator offers Amsterdam Bike Rental or Essential Amsterdam: Museum Tickets, Canal Cruise and Bike Rental. Check out the Bicycle Parking Lot at Central Station for an unbelievable photo opportunity. Seeing is believing!

Strahan

Tasmania

My Recommendation Tip

Strahan, a picturesque fishing village is a must visit when traveling to Tasmania. Things to do are a visit to Sarah Island with its dubious reputation of being the worst convict prison in Australia combined with a Gordon River cruise or take the Strahan steam railway experience.

What better way to view the beautiful Great Barrier reef from far above and deep below the water surface! Though snorkeling is as good as diving at the Great Barrier Reef. Staff are well organized, professional and fun.

How to Do Paris like a Local

Paris

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review
Paris is all about food and wine! Visit the Saxe Breteuil Market at Avenue de Saxe. This open air market is framed by the magnificent Eiffel Tower. You will find mouth-watering high quality foods, including organic produce. Next walk to Rue Cler, great for specialty food and wine shops. Then walk to the Champs de Mars park and enjoy your bottle of wine and fresh foods from the market and Rue Cler while enjoying a view of the Eiffel Tower. Du vin, du pain et du boursin! Vive la France! Life does not get much better than this.

Paris Metro

Paris

My Recommendation Tip

Looking for a reliable, efficient and cost effective choice to navigate Paris? With the Paris The Métropolitain, or Métro, you're guaranteed a quick, cheap and colourful ride as there are many talented buskers who hop from train to train. There is a great deal of walking involved in many stations as there are a lot of long tunnels. While walking up and down the stairs and through the tunnels, you come upon unexpected delights, such as a chamber orchestra playing Baroque music, a lone violinist playing for coins or a jazz combo. Navigating the Metro is fairly easy, as each station posts a map of the entire subway network. Every subway line is color-coded and numbered, and is given a name according to the last station. You don't have to look hard to find one as every building is within 500 metres of a metro station and the entrances are indicated by an "M" or with signs saying "Metro" or "Metropolitain". Tip: People take strollers on the Metro all the time, but there are stairs in the stations, and it's not easy to maneuver the stroller with just one person.

Paris Notre Dame

Paris

My Recommendation Tip

The Notre Dame is an example of great French Gothic art. Check out the detail on the facade which displays stories from the Bible and from Christian history. The view from the top of the Notre Dame is mindblowing, not only do you get to see the gargoyles up close, you also have a good view of the city with the Eiffel tower and the Sacre Coeur build on the top of a hill. The only downside is the the queue to enter the stairs leading up to the top of the Notre Dame can take a long time. Though you can skip the line if you book a Skip the Line: Notre Dame Cathedral, Tower and Ile de la Cite Half-Day Walking Tour. Be prepared for some exercise, 422 stairs up and down!

Dutch windows

Netherlands

My Recommendation Tip

The Dutch strongly believe in the freedom of the individual. This freedom is also displayed at home as most Dutch homes don't have curtains shielding off the window, so that you can look into living rooms when you walk past. Don't be ashamed to have a look when you walk past homes, the Dutch aren't!

Amsterdam Jordaan

Amsterdam

My Recommendation Tip

Another favorite! The Jordaan is a labyrinth of narrow streets and little canals, boutiques, galleries, courtyards and 'brown' pubs. A great part of town to stroll around and take in the atmosphere. This part of Amsterdam has a colorful history. Check out Viator's the Jordaan Quarter Walking Tour.

Queensday Amsterdam 30 April every year

Netherlands

My Recommendation Tip

Queensday is officially the national celebration of the birthday of the Queen Mother. Amsterdam turns into one relaxed and fun big street party and huge flee market. At the Dam, Damrak, Rokin, Rembrandtplein, Spui, Leidsestraat, Leidseplein and the Jordaan you will find crowds celebrating, wearing Orange clothing and trade all things unnecessary. No cars or public transport are allowed in the centre so you will have to walk. Bring good walking shoes and wear something Orange! And check out the boats in the canals!
