Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
Rome, Italy
My Rating

Roberto and Mike were GREAT tour guides - funny, witty, and wise! Wish we would have started our trip with this tour. The views were breathtaking, and it was great experience. The hike up Vesuvius is a steep one, but worth the climb. The day seemed to fly by, and both guides shared great history and humor, plus the added bonuses of Rome cliff notes - things you should know and sights you shouldn't miss. (And the pop quiz was a lot of fun too!! Go team 5!)

Panoramic Rome by Night Tour and Dinner in Trastevere
Rome, Italy
My Rating

This definitely a tour to skip. The tour operator executed incredibly poorly what could have been a good tour. in addition to having to argue for a pick up at a hotel (2 separate calls to them), the first bus to get to the tourbus was awful - very rude driver. The guides, Marcello and Alessandra were nice, but the bus speakers were garbled, which made listening to the four different languages more difficult, which was compounded when they held the microphones too closely. The tour itself was a waste - you learn and see more on the hop on/hop off tour buses. We were hoping dinner would be redeeming, and were sorely disappointed. Wine was NOT included. All the food was excessively salted, and coated in oil. They did provide free water, but trying to get a second bottle was more difficult than squeezing blood from an orange. The tour guide accomodated a few people that needed to rush off by putting them in taxis, but the couple that really needed it due to health reasons, was kept on the bus. More walking than advertised.** not handicap accessible**. This was a horrific waste of time and money. In the words of my two travel buds, and the 3 australians we "dined" with (they refused to eat their food), "IT SUCKED!"" Hands down the worst experience on our trip If we could give negative stars we would. More comments from our group..." it sucked. waste of time. waste of money. why would we ever book a dinner that did not include a glass of wine? Awful. Do NOT take this tour"

Rome Angels and Demons Half-Day Tour

Karinna is the best tour guide, and we were thrilled to have her again on this tour!!! One of the very best tour guides we've had so far on our trip. We saw so much more of Rome and learned more of the history behind the stories. Would highly recommend this tour!!! The view from the top of Castel Sant'Angelo is wonderful! The start in the Chigi chapel was a fun start to the day, and the tour was one of our trip highlights. If you've not done this, it's a must do!

Skip the Line: Crypts and Roman Catacombs Small Group Walking Tour

Karinna and Georgia were delightful tour guides! Seeing the archeological "lasagna" was intriguing, and something that would have been easily overlooked if we hadn't signed up for this tour. The Capuchin crypts are a must see - the bones as art is truly a marvel. Karinna was "our group guide",and she has a marvelous grasp of history and shares it well. Hope to have her as a guide on future tours!!!

Angela guided us well through the museums. If I would have known that we all end up in the same area, I would have taken more time perusing the galleries. SKIP the Line is DEFINITELY worth it!!

Venice by Night Tour and Gondola Ride
Venice, Italy
My Rating

The walking tour gave some interesting twists of Venice - the narrowest alley for example. We would through the streets, and would easily have been lost on our own. The gondola ride was amazing quiet, as it seems as though the sidewalks had been rolled up. The one true disappointment was our guide had promised to meet us at the dock to direct us to hotels, etc. because YOU DO NOT END THE TOUR WHERE YOU START THE TOUR. You actually end on the opposited side of the canal and a street over from the vaporetto stop. And the guide never showed to give guidance to people.

Tuscany Towns and Chianti Wine-Tasting Tour from Florence: Siena and Pisa
Florence, Italy
My Rating

Siena was incredible, and our guide there was phenomenal... I think her name was Angela? but I cannot remember. She did a fabulous job walking us through the town and sharing history (and her history of being baptised at the Duomo). Would have loved to shop here, but didn't have time.
The lunch at Machiavelli's was nice, and the three wines were lovely. Note - for those looking for a wine tasting tour of Tuscany- this is not it.
Too little time in Lucca, but there's a lot packed into the day.
Pisa was incredibly rushed, and our guide did nothing to ensure that our group was together, or that we all made it to the Tower. All the street vendors detracted from the beauty of the church and the Tower (the vendors look like a carnival).
Skip the line was worth it, only because it ensured that you got a ticket to go up. The 225 steps up and down!! But the view from the top of the Tower at sunset is quite beautiful.

Handmade Italian Pasta Cooking Course in Florence
Florence, Italy
My Rating

Chef Alessandro is phenomenal!! We wish we could bring him home with us. We thoroughly enjoyed this class, and wish we would have booked a cooking class every day that we were here. The tour guide that walked us to our class was very kind and punctual. It was easy to find the meeting place, and the only drawback was that we had no "doggie bags". The three pastas were wonderful, the panna cotta was delightful, and the wine capped the meal perfectly. Definitely a MUST do!
