This is a multi-national tour in a bus meaning lots of people speaking lots of different languages. Our tour guide was proficient in at least four languages and everyone seemed to get their questions answered. Part of the beauty of this trip is having your day planned out for you. Bruges was enjoyable but it had a suffocating, touristy feel to it. I actually enjoyed Ghent a little more even though there was probably less to see. It provides a great overview of the two cities so that you'll have a better idea of what you want to see if you ever travel back. I'm glad I took the tour but just make sure you have correct expectations.
What an unbelievable experience! Matthew was an outstanding guide. The tour started at a German cemetery, then progressed to St. Mere Eglise, Utah Beach, Omaha Beach and finally the American cemetery. I learned so much from my tour guide; it accomplished exactly what I hoped for-it brought the history back to life. I would have enjoyed more time at Omaha Beach and the American cemetery but it was nice to have a guide to pace the day along to ensure that you maximized your time. Only 6 people were on the tour which made it very warm and personalized. I don't believe the tour would ever have more then 8 people. They were prompt to pick us up at the train station and they dropped us off on time to catch our train. They also had room to store our bags during the tour. One of the highlights of my trip to Europe!!
London, United Kingdom
The London Pass made me feel rushed to do as much as possible to justify the cost of the pass. Plus, there are so many free things to do in London. Before you purchase the pass, make sure you can justify the cost and know that maximizing the pass will result in extremely full days that might you feel like you are rushing around instead of enjoying the sights. I did enjoy the ease of access (not having to pay each time but just presenting your card.)
