An early start, 7 a.m., picking up guests at other hotels en route. We were driven to Tsawwassen to catch the 9 a.m. ferry to Vancouver Island. Cheryl our tour guide kept us well informed as to where to go and the return time back on the bus, before leaving the ferry for a drive to Victoria.
We happened to arrive in the city on Victoria Day, which is a federal Canadian public holiday celebrated on the last Monday before May 25. We managed to enjoy the sights of the Victoria Day parade, a good start to the day. The weather was really kind as we enjoyed the city and the colourful crowds determined to have a good time.
We met Cheryl at 3 p.m. for the drive to Butchart Gardens, a "not to be missed" location. Arriving late in the day, the crowds had largely gone and the gardens were spectacular and fairly peaceful.
Next a short drive back to the ferry port to catch the 7 p.m. ferry, so glad that we had reservations arranged by Landsea, with vast numbers of vehicles trying to return to the mainland, at the end of the May long weekend.
Finally a return leg to Vancouver, returning to our hotel at around 10 p.m. A super day, a really excellent guide, top marks to Landsea, if in doubt do this tour, I trust you will like us, appreciate the efforts taken to provide a first rate experience.
We chose to have a more relaxed day, following a long trip to Whistler the previous day. We were blessed with marvellous weather and the boat trip and lunch matched the weather. A great scenic tour, with good food and staff who tried hard to make our time enjoyable - they succeeded!
This was an excellent tour with a first rate tour guide - Ryan. We were picked up at 7 a.m. and taken to the train station, via the hotels of other guests.
We received pre allocated seats on the train, so no stress to find a seat. The 3.5 hour ride up to Whistler was spectacular and the train crew kept as well fed, watered and informed.
Ryan had driven to Whistler and picked us up at the train station and gave a short introductory ride around the village, before dropping us off for a 4 hour look around. The village and surrounding scenery is not to be missed. We had a leisurely lunch and then enjoyed watching the mountain bikers descending at real speed down the snow free ski runs. Finally a worthwhile visit to the new first nation centre, before the return trip by road to Vancouver.
We had a number of stops on the return leg, Shannon Falls were especially attractive. We were taken back to or hotel at around 7 p.m. tired, but so pleased to have taken this tour.
Ryan and Landsea, the tour operator, did us proud. Yes the day was expensive, but a tour to remember, many thanks.
