Everything about the tour was great. Our tour guide, Barbara, was very knowledgeable and helpful. The meeting place was exactly as described, and the people greeting us were well prepared. The small group size was great. There were some problems with the radios, but Barbara solved them quickly. We packed a lot of touring, seeing, and hearing into the three-hour tour, and we were pleasantly tired and happy after the tour ended. We would definitely recommend this tour.

Murano, Burano and Torcello Half-Day Sightseeing Tour

Venice, Italy

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

Guide presented in 3 languages and had to talk fast to get everything in. It was sometimes difficult to understand her. Tour provided an overview, but Torcello was the only one that we had time enough to see much of. Considering that it was a 4-hour tour, it would not have been possible to do any more depth. It was enough to whet our appetites for a more in-depth visit to Murano and Burano the next time that we are in Venice.

Guide Stefano was good and helpful. The product description did not indicate how strenuous the uphill walks were in Sienna and San Gimignano. Time is short in each place, so the walking pace is fast. Stefano was able to help the situation in San Gimignano. It was raining in Sienna, and this made things even a little more difficult. Time was especially short in Sienna, but lengthening the stay would not have been possible in what was already a long day. The lunch and wine tasting were great. We would like to go back to Sienna to see more of a very interesting city at a slower pace. Time in San Gimignano and Pisa were adequate.

Florence Super Saver: Best of Florence Walking Tour, Accademia Gallery, Uffizi Gallery and Florence Duomo

Florence, Italy

My Review

This tour had a morning session and an afternoon session. Our morning tour guide, Angelo, was the best guide that we had on any of the tours. He was knowledgeable, interesting and passionate about his subjects. We got an overview of Florence and visited the Duomo and the Academia Gallery where Angelo spent time enjoyably explaining the statue of David. We got an excellent overview of Florence. The afternoon guide, Francesca, was also very knowledgeable and interesting. She led us on the tour of the Uffizi Gallery and provided us with considerable information on the important paintings that we saw and on the relationships between them. Again, it was an excellent overview. On that day Francesca had a trainee, and, as it turned out, the trainee had to take on additional responsibility due to a mix up at the gallery. One couple on the tour complained strenuously to the trainee about the problem. The trainee handled the situation very well, and Francesca soon had it straightened out. This tour was the best of any that we took.

Skip the Line: Venice in One Day Including Boat Tour

My Review

This tour had morning and afternoon sessions. We unknowingly scheduled this tour for 25 April, which is a national holiday and San Marco's (St. Mark's, the patron saint of Venice) feast day. We took a train in from the outskirts and were unable to get on the first four or five trains that came by so we arrived 10 minutes late, but the Avventure Bellissime coordinator easily handled the situation for us and others and placed us with a tour already starting. Because it was the saint's feast day, we were unable to tour the basilica. However, the tour was very interesting and informative, and we got an excellent overview of Venice from the land. The afternoon tour was a boat tour of the Grand Canal. It actually covered part of the lagoon and several side canals before returning via the Grand Canal. Again, it was a very good overview of the waterways of Venice. There was some concern that the tour was late or that we misunderstood the directions about where to meet, but at the appointed hour the tour magically began. Overall, this was a great overview of Venice.
