Skipping the lines was a major attraction and did NOT disappoint. The guide, while a little difficult to hear, was great and of course the Vatican museum was unbelievable. On a strange note, we were advised days before the tour that all tours inside St. Peter's basilica were cancelled by the Vatican that day, however as we roamed inside the basilica, we noticed several other tour groups getting a guided tour. Not a big deal since we prefer to "go-it-alone" but we didn't quite understand.
Having taken two Viator tours in Rome, I would recommend without hesitation.
Really a fanastic day. We are normally the DIY type of travelers, but opted for this tour. The Viator guide (Mike from California) was absolutely fantastic with his knowledge of ancient history and humor. The bus leave Rome early and an hour and a half later stops at a "rest area" which is clearly designed for tour buses. Nice, clean place for a "pit stop" and a coffee but amazing how much useless stuff the Asian tourists can buy.
Another hour or so and the bus stops near Pompeii for lunch at a place again designed for tour buses. Our expecations were a bit low but the pizza was AWESOME!
