I'll try to paint a picture of the tour with words. But not a Picasso, because his paintings don't look like their subjects. The day starts with a bus ride from Florence. During the drive the guides both entertain and inform with stories about the region. You'll visit each village and they are all charming. At each stop you're given the freedom to do as you please - something I very much appreciated about the tour. Lunch was a highlight; the seafood was divine. But what I most appreciated about the tour was how the guides handled the logistics of getting everyone from village to village. They made it look effortless but I know how much work that is and was happy to be relieved of the burden.
Our guide was excellent. She did a wonderful job of showing us the evolution of art culminating in the renaissance. Not only through paintings in the Uffizi but through statues located in Florence. She also gave a great introduction to the Medici family and their role both in Florence and the renaissance.
Alice, our guide, was funny, enthusiastic and, most importantly, knowledgeable. She was clearly passionate about all the places visited on the tour. The tour includes a short stop at a cafe that we liked so well we went back for lunch.
