Tortola, British Virgin Islands
The island was beautiful. The people who ran the excursion were not. We were a party of 8. After the fast mountainous ride to the boat we started to board. No word from the boat driver. Not welcome aboard, how is everyone. Let me help you in the boat or show you how to get in the boat. Some of our group was short and it was hard for them to get in. All the husbands worked together - nothing from the driver or his helper. Getting off the boat and getting on the boat at the island was also difficult. They brought you close to the shore but no instruction, help etc. Getting on with the waves you had to pull along a rope and climb in the back. Again no instruction before or after on best way etc. No greeting after back on board - how was your day. Just a bored driver doing a job. Also no mention of where life vests were. No communication with van driver until we got back and then we waited 20 min for the van to take us back to the ship. The island is beautiful - and you do get over and back quicker than the cruise tour so I guess I would give it a 3. We just were not impressed by the people who operated this tour.
St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands
We had an ok time on this. The way the tour reads is it is 3 hours (the one without the beach). But when we got on they dropped us in town and said they would be back in 3 hours after shopping (we didn't need 3 hours of shopping). We then went to the highest peak in St. Thomas which was nice and then back down and stopped a couple of times. We let the beach goers off at a beach and then back to the ship. So the tour was more than 3 hours. Nothing too exciting or intersting except view from the top. Probably could take a taxi there and back.
