Death Valley Day Trip from Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

The trip to Death Valley was the highlight of our trip.
We had an early pick up, with breakfast being supplied. The group was small, which made it much more friendly and intimate experience. The whole day was fascinating and the tour guides knowledge was extensive.
It was a really hot day and although we'd brought a couple of bottles of water with us, there was plenty of water available on the bus (supplied without extra cost) to keep us hydrated.
There had been a bush fire near Scotty's Castle, which meant that the road was closed and we couldn't get through to see it. It didn't ruin the day though as it enabled us to see more places that we wouldn't have had time to see otherwise. We particularly enjoyed Badwater and Artist's Palette - stunning. The variety of colours are wonderful. If you can stand the sun, take your sunglasses off for a moment to see the true colours, as sunglasses affect it somewhat. Therefore, I'd recommend a big hat to protect your eyes without ruining the beautiful colours.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating.
The selection of weapons and targets was very good and overall a good experience and enjoyed the opportunity to try something that we don't get the opportunity to experience at home.

Monterey, Carmel and 17-Mile Drive Day Trip from San Francisco

San Francisco, California

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

What should have been a wonderful day was somewhat spoiled by the fact that the vehicle that we travelled in clearly had a problem with it's suspension. It started out as a bit of a giggle as we were being bumped off our seats over many uneven roads. However, as this is a long day, the humour very quickly disappeared and even the beautiful scenery couldn't compensate for people's discomfort.
We did have plenty of stops and the driver even allowed us to stop at the Pebble Beach Golf Club, which thrilled my husband and a couple of other golf fanatics on the tour. I would recommend that if you want to buy golf souvenirs though to wait until you get to Monterey, as they have a Pebble Beach shop there that had many discounted items (up to 70% off). It was a shame, as the trip was very worthwhile and I could see the beauty of it. I would do it again, but I would check that the vehicle was in good working order first!
