Small-Group Paris Catacombs Tour

Paris, France

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

Let me firstly say I have wanted to do a tour of the Catacombs for 30 years and it took this long to get to them when they where open. Was I apprehensive was I going to be claustrophobic? Well as it turns out absolutely not.

This tour was fantastic. Our wonderful tour guide, Dimitri, was a really friendly, he spoke beautifully and eloquently, was already waiting for us with his yellow duck umbrella and we were early, so we went and got a coffee first and he paid for us which was very nice gesture. The line certainly was thick and long by the time we got back before the gates were opened but we just went to the front of the line. Dimitri, made this tour very interesting with loads of information that he shared about the history of Paris and its catacombs. Dimitri also made the tour very enjoyable overall, by keeping things interesting and entertaining with his quirky and great sense of humour and wonderful personality.

This tour is really great, made better by Dimitri, there are a lot of details, nooks and crannies that you'd definitely miss if you did the catacombs tour on your own. The Passages are quite spacious, so it really is quite good to move about and the temperature is quite low so you don't feel hot. Dimitri filled us in on all the facts and made the tour interesting, this was a great experience and a marvelous way to see the catacombes in a small group, front of the line tour.

Dimitri was absolutely fantastic, he is brilliant guide who gave us lots of really interesting facts and information I might not have enjoyed this tour so much if it had not been for Dimitri. He made it a more Amazing place. He gave me a card recommending a Gourmet tour which I mislaid but we would love to do a Gourmet tour next if only I could remember it's name. Maybe in April 2015.

Paris Chocolate and Pastry Food Tour

Paris, France

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

Very Good tour and extremely informative to how, when and what chocolates are about, the guide was good and had great knowledge and the walking was very good we also got to see some other buildings of interest on the way.
I will say that this is a tour for the true chocolate CONNOISSEUR as most of the chocolates are true 70% to 90% Cocoa so very dark flavour taste, so if your used to that commercial chocolate or like me like white, you might not like the samples, but the history is worth the trip alone. The last place we finished put us in a lovely old cobblestone alley where we found a great Parisienne Cafe with some excellent food.
Nice interesting tour.

Learn How To Make French Macaroons in Paris

Paris, France

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

I bought this make French Macaroons as a surprise for my partner, and he had a great time. He had no idea what we were going to do and was very excited when he found out. The Chef was brilliant, he explained things well, put everything we were doing into context and from start to finish we made, created and baked four different flavored Macaroons.

After we were able to take all our baked goodies with us with our supplied carry boxes. We were very popular back at our hotel reception desk when we handed them out, and they loved them and said they where the best they had ever had. We told them we had just made them, and they couldn't believe we could make such perfect tasting macaroons, well we did and in no small part to the wonderful guidance of master Chef Frederic.

This makes a great surprise event which can be done with a loved one or the whole family. Well set up, very clean and excellent training with fluent English proffesional French Chef. Superb!

London Afternoon Tea at Grosvenor House

London, United Kingdom

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

I rate this as one of the very best high teas I have had, the service was exceptional, the very charming Adam took care of all our High Tea needs and there was a vast and varied selection. The teas where wonderful, the champagne divine.

To top it all off, which I've never experienced with any other High Tea is that before you leave you may make a further selection of desserts and cakes which they box up for you and give you to take back to your hotel.

I had a superb time, relaxing and very comfortable. Adam was an absolute delight and we all had a great afternoon, I would gladly say this was the highlight to my London visit. I look forward till the day I can return and redo this High Tea one of the very few I would really want to. Thank you Grosvenor House, Marriott Hotels for owning such a fantastic property and to Adam for your fine attention that made mine and my guests afternoon such a memorable one.

My Review

Excellent service, there waiting with a clear sign and assisted with luggage to the car. He didn't talk at all which was great, who needs idol chatter when you've just arrived from Australia on a 24 hour flight and its 6.30 in the morning.
Reliable and highly recommended and is more convenient and around the same cost as as a taxi, but far mor spacious and comfortable.

Washington DC Scenic Lunch Cruise

Washington D.C., District of Columbia

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

Having never been in Washington before I thought this day time lunch cruise would be a good way to get the lay of the land and river.

The food was very nice,Plenty of it, some good choices and your encouraged to go up as often as you like. My erstwhile vegetarian friend also found plenty of tasty delights. The waitress, Nakeda, who looked after us, was an ambassador for the cruise line and she is a service star, juggling drinks, having fun, clearing tables and finding time to help the DJ belt out a tune, in rather fine form.

Now for the DJ, chatty, LOUD and always there, so be ready for that, it's not every ones cup of tea, but he kept the party going, though for a Sunday Cherry Blossom Festival lunch cruise I personally found it to much, I would have been happy with more sights highlights and peaceful tunes. But I bet this is a real fun cruise at night. It did take me back a few times to my Disco days of the 70's, so for those moments of nostalgia it was pleasant.

This is a well run cruise with good food and service, and whilst it wasn't what I was expecting, I didn't not enjoy it. Thank you Nakeda you made us feel really welcome and special. The Chanel guy.
