we had a great afternoon here but feel it is a little pricey when the Lyn Valley suspenion bridge is nearby and is free and has more dramatic scenery.
we waited over 30 mins for a trolley to accomodate us from our start point. we were able to board the 3rd bus where the driver was informative about the surroundings but we felt like there wasn't much histoical info, it was more like 'this is a statue of....' the tours also finish unreasonably early. stores attractions, restaurants are open well into the evening, but we had to be on board by 4.25 in order to hop off at our start point. A day pass on the transit system is much better value and includes unlimited travel on the seabus, skytrain and street buses from the first of the day to the last.
This was a great day! Our guide was very informative on the hike. The journey to the start of the trail was very scenic and we could tell that the guide had a lot to say, but we were at the back and he didn't have a headset, so however interesting it was, we don't know. This small detail did not detract from our day. He was clearly passionate about the rain forest and about the history of the gold rush trail. We were well looked after on the hike and the float down river which provided some breath-taking scenery.
This trip was fun, exciting and a little frightening, all rolled into one! The price for the photo was extortionate, but we had to have it because it was utterly brilliant!
