My Review

We had a fantastic tour with Laura! She took great care to explain everything and to keep track of all of us! We had the special early morning (8AM) tour and that was great. The explanations she gave to us and the insights were phenomenal! It would take about a month to go through everything but Laura did a great job telling us what she could in the 3 hours. It became extremely crowded the last hour when we were in St. Peter's and the other tourists were very rude and annoying. Be careful with that! This tour is a must see. Beautiful!

We toured in the pouring rain and it was still fantastic! Our tour guide, Inger, was great. She made sure we got all the insights and information and guided us carefully through the wet, windy streets! This is such an interesting area (even in the rain) and we learned a lot. Beautiful churches, the Great Synagogue, the piazzas, and more. So worthwhile! Don't miss it.

Florence Day Trip from Rome

Rome, Italy

My Rating
1 star rating: I do not recommend this

My Review

We were so excited for this day trip and it just did not live up to expectations. We left late, arrived late, and then stood on line for the Accademia for about 30 minutes. We were supposed to "skip the line". The local tour guide just kept saying "We're behind schedule". She could have and should have used the time we were standing on line to at least talk about Florence, the Renaissance, etc. We understand that "stuff happens" but she could have used the time to fill us in on the sites and sounds of Florence as we were waiting. We finally get inside and she talks to us for about 10 minutes, tells us to go down the hall to see "DAVID", which by the way is quite incredible, and then told us we had 15 minutes and then had to meet at the door. Well, the 15 minutes was used for the long line at the restroom and we didn't see anything else in the museum. We then walked (more like ran) to the Duomo for a short explanation, then we were to meet the other guide for lunch. 2 people were "missing" and we proceeded to wait another 30 minutes before going to lunch. Lunch was ok, but also rushed. After that, we walked back to the piazza and were told we had 45 minutes to "explore", but no tips on what to explore! We didn't know the Ponte Vecchio was so close, or we would have gone there. We basically sat around (with many others from the tour) and were not happy. When we discussed it with the tour guide, he took no responsibility, basically said we should have asked where things were (isn't that what the tour guide's job is?) and pretty much "too bad". We also had asked in the beginning, if the tour would be extended since we wasted so much time. He originally said it would be, but we left at the time we were supposed to. This trip was very expensive and we feel we wasted the entire day, seeing basically nothing but DAVID. We had such a limited time in Italy and this took up one day. Not happy.
