Tour was excellent, especially the Anne Frank House. We enjoyed our time in Amsterdam and finally figured out that bicycles have the right of way whether on the street, in bike lanes or on the sidewalks...pedestrians are more or less "fair game". Regardless, we learned to cope and had a wonderful time in this beautiful, vibrant and "somewhat" open city.
Unfortunately this was not as good as our other transfers recommended and booked through Viator. Before I go any further, I must make it clear that the driver was wonderful and the problems were not of his doing. There apparently was a serious breakdown in communication. We were told that the driver would be waiting when we got off the ship, which we thought strange because all the other passengers with private transportation waited for their drivers aboard ship and they were paged when their drivers arrived. But, we did as we were instructed and got off the ship on time and waited for a driver that had our name. After about 35 minutes I called the local number and they said that the driver was there. After looking and not finding him, I called again and they said that he was at the Passenger Terminal and they advised us to walk over to it, which was ridiculous since it was at least a half mile away. I said that this was not the service I paid for and told them to send the driver over to where the ship was docked. At that point I was just going to find a taxi, but a kindly gentleman asked if we were who he was looking for. We said yes and he took over. He was there the whole time, and I know that because my wife was standing in front of his car the whole time. H e was aboard the ship looking for us...which apparently is normal. Once again the driver was excellent and the problem was with in the company and I suggest you talk to them before continuing to do business with them.
This was great. It was not our first Segway tour so we were familiar with the equipment. This is a wonderful way to see a city and we highly recommend it to adults of all ages and youth that are old enough. Our guide was FANTASTIC and gave us not only historical facts, but also her educated insight. She was also able to give her perspective into life in Budapest. The city is not one of the most beautiful in Europe (that is NOT to say that it is not beautiful), but the people are very proud of their city and country and that comes across in a very pleasant unmistakable way. There are many national treasures in Budapest and I am sure that over time this city will regain it's once prominent place. They have come a long way since they became a free nation. I strongly recommend visiting this city and feeling the strong love its inhabitants have for their city and country. It is nice to see, especially in the youth.
