Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Small Group Tour from Munich

Munich, Germany

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

Steve was my tour guide with Radius Tours. I was the only one on the tour. It was Thurs 4/25 in the afternoon. It was one of the best tours. Steve had previously been a tour guide at Dachau and was VERY knowledgeable! He gave me a wonderful tour of the camp and then gave me free time to go back and take pics and look at things in more detail on my own. The train ride was quick and convenient that got us to Dachau. Then there was a bus we hopped on right away and were at the camp within 5 minutes. It was a warm and sunny day. If you want to buy books or souvenirs be sure to buy it once you are actually inside the camp because the proceeds go to the Survivors fund. If you buy things inside the initial bookstore they don't. I would much rather my money go to the Survivors. Wonderful experience and would definitely recommend to anyone.

Bridget was the tour guide. The group was approx 34 people and you are on a big coach bus. This is a long day! It is a wonderful drive so have your cameras ready. We went on Wed 4/24 and it was a sunny, nice day. We stopped at Harburg Castle which was great. Then we continued to Rothenburg and had 3 hrs of free time. It was wonderful. I wish we could have had an hour or two more of free time. Bridget did an excellent job of giving us the background of the Romantic Road and Rothenburg during the ride there. There was a private tour guide at Harburg Castle who did a wonderful job. I would like to go back to more the towns on the Romantic Road that we didn't stop at. Very good tour for the price and it was nice to just be a passenger and not have to drive. Rothenburg is the cutest town! The only thing we didn't get to do that we wanted to was go to the top of the City Hall in Rothenburg to be able to see the entire town. Great job Bridget! Thanks for the great day:)

Lucia was our tour guide with Radius Tours. She was WONDERFUL!! I was on this tour with my mom. The train ride on the way to Salzburg was beautiful and relaxing. We went on Mon 4/24. The day was a little overcast. Lucia gave us a wonderful tour of the main points in Salzburg. I especially wanted to hear about the Sound of Music sites and she was more than accomodating. There is a bridge that people put locks on with their initials and I was asking her about that and she said that because of all the locks the city cuts some of them down due to the weight. She suggested I use a ribbon or something like that. My mom and I bought a ribbon for less than half a euro at a shop in town and wrote on it and tied it to the bridge. Great idea! We went up the mountain in an elevator above the Art Museum so we could get photos of Salzburg and the fortress. Unfortunately we didn't get to the fortress but were able to get great views from below and on top of the Art Museum. Wonderful day in such a beautiful city. Wish we could have had an hour or two more in Salzburg on our own. The tour had approx 10 people and they were all Americans. Lucia did a great job. Thanks Lucia for such a great day!

Neuschwanstein Castle Small Group Day Tour from Munich

My Review

Adam with Radius Tours was our tour guide. We went on Sat 4/20. I was with my mom. Adam is so handsome. He looked like Tom Cruise. He is very enthusiastic and very accommodating. It was a rainy day and it had snowed overnight we found out on the train ride there. It is a two hour train ride to Neuschwanstein. It was a pleasant ride and we were able to pick Adam's brain on Munich and tour questions. It was a small group of 8 and all of us were Americans. We took a 10 minute bus from the train station to Fussen and then decided to walk up the hill to Neuschwanstein Castle. The walk takes 45 min to an hour. It is very intense and grueling. There is horse manure on the road walking up as there are horse carriages you can take. I would recommend walking up if you can but you will feel it in your ankles and calves the next day. I ended up getting shin splints which I never had before because of this. I am 30 yrs old and in fairly good shape but had not been hiking at that incline before. Even thought it was snowy and icy were still able to go to Mary's bridge. You must do this. It was wonderful to be able to get pics of the castle. We couldn't do the gorge as it was closed due to the icy walk. The actual tour inside the castle took about 20 min and the lady was ok- nothing spectacular- she was hard to understand because of her accent. Overall the day was great. The weather could have been better but it was still an unforgettable experience. Thanks Adam for such a great day!
