The tour was amazing. We saw so much in such a short time, I still can't believe it. Our guides were very knowledgeable about so many aspects of the Vatican and all it's holdings that we were seriously impressed. This tour is actually 2 tours, the Vatican itself in the morning, with a couple hour break for lunch, and then a bus tour to other basilicas in the afternoon. The 2 tours were very different, but both equally educational. One note - the bus tour does not end where it picks you up. It was not a problem for us, as our final stop was the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, which was just a short walk from our hotel, but it is good to know ahead of time where you will be ending up at. I would highly recommend this tour. It really gives you a tremendous overview of the Vatican as a whole.
The tour was excellent. Our guide appeared well versed in all the areas the Gallery has to offer, both inside and out. We were able to clearly understand her, and she was able to explain so many behind the scenes or little known details about the displays it made it very educational. There were no boring parts, and she was able to keep things moving, but we did not feel rushed. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see some of the historic artwork of Rome and the surrounding areas. There is so much to see, I would think trying this without a guide would be a huge mistake.
