Steamboat Natchez Jazz Dinner Cruise

New Orleans, Louisiana

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

We took this cruise on the last night of our week long vacation in New Orleans, and on the evening of our wedding anniversary. It didn't disappoint. You board one hour before they set sail. During this time, a Dixieland jazz band is playing, there is a gift shop to peruse and an open bar which sells mixed and virgin drinks. Sitting out on deck and watching the mighty Mississippi River, while enjoying music and a drink is a wonderful, relaxing experience. There were plenty of deck chairs for everyone. Later on in the cruise, a wonderful dinner buffet is served of local foods, in a lovely dining room, with pretty table linens. Many people dressed up for this occasion! The food was fabulous and the waiters were gracious and extremely friendly. As the sun sets and the world grows dark, the lights of the Mississippi River bridge are so beautiful. It is all very romantic. The experience was soooo worth the price and then some! You even get a photo of yourself and loved one (purchase price around $22) to remember the trip. I cannot recommend this cruise enough. It was a wonderful end to a fantastic trip to New Orleans!

New Orleans Power Pass™

New Orleans, Louisiana

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

The Power Pass is an easy way to save a lot of money doing most of the wonderful things that New Orleans has to offer. Very worth the purchase price. So easy to use. The brochure you get with the pass explains everything and everywhere the pass can be used. Also includes maps of the various neighborhoods where the attractions are located. It mentioned things I didn't even know about. What a bargain!

Experience Cajun Country: Swamp Boat Adventure and Plantations Full-Day Tour from New Orleans

New Orleans, Louisiana

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

We spent the first day of our week long vacation in New Orleans attending this tour. It was fabulous! Our tour guide, Muriel, was an encyclopedia of information about any and everything to do with New Orleans. The boat ride on the Bayou was incredible. We saw much wildlife, including alligators, and greatly enjoyed our Cajun guide who told stories of life on the bayou with humor and many years experience on this waterway. Next, we visited the famous Oak Alley Plantation, where we enjoyed a delicious lunch buffet of Cajun and Creole foods. The tour guides for both this Plantation and the Creole plantation called Laura were friendly, VERY knowledgeable and gracious. What a great way to be introduced to the intriguing history of New Orleans and surrounding areas. We made friends in our group and by the end of the day, we felt like we had known Muriel forever. Just fantastic!

Shared Arrival Transfer: New Orleans Airport to Hotel or Cruise Port

New Orleans, Louisiana

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

This shuttle service was excellent going from the Airport to our hotel outside the French Quarter. They were prompt, efficient and the van was really nice inside - the nicest I've ever been in. HOWEVER, and this is the big one. For our return trip to the airport, they badly bungled our trip information. When a called two days before the trip back to confirm our information, I found out that they had our pick up time down as our airline departure time! They were suppose to pick us up at 5:00 a.m. for a 7:25 a.m. flight. Instead, they had our pick up time as 7:25 a.m. I corrected this with them during my confirmation phone call. The morning of our departure. we got up at 4:00 a.m. and were ready and waiting at the agreed upon time. They DIDN'T show up! When I called to find out what was going on, I found out that our pick up time had never been changed in the system. They were still scheduled to pick us up at 7:25 a.m.! Panic ensued. We were told to flag a cab, which we did. It got us to the airport in plenty of time and was less of a hassle. Frankly, folks, the airport shuttle costs about the same as the cab. The cab was $33 to the airport and is waaaaay worth the less of a hassle. There are cabs all over New Orleans at every hour of the day and night. Use those! I am hoping that my return shuttle trip is refunded to me as promised. Don't know yet. Save yourself the hassle and use a cab!
