We had an excellent day with our guide Ana. She was most interesting. The only thing was that, although it was the middle of April, the weather was too bad for us to get up to the top of the Eagle's Nest. Instead we visited a salt mine. This might have been very interesting if I hadn't already visited the one near Krakow (no comparison! The documentary centre was very interesting and Berchtesgaden was a nice small town to visit but unfortunately they wouldn't let us visit the castle because it is guided tours only at certain hours ;-( This day out is worth-doing but wait till the summer!
The guide (I think he said his name was Achim) was excellent. He really knew his stuff and took time to explain everything. His English was very good and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing all his interesting stories.
