The trip was per booked before our arrival in New York and we confirmed on arrival, so far so good. On arrival at the boat we were told our vouchers had to be exchanged for tickets, we were not told this when confirming. However, no problem ticket office just the other side of the car park.
Once on board we were shown to our table, it was side facing in the middle of the boat. Our seats were not chairs but a low sofa type seat and my wife being short found it uncomfortable reaching up to the table, there were a number of tables designed to seat 8 people which had only 1or2couples on them and we asked if we could be moved as these tables had proper dining chairs with them. Our request was soon granted without any fuss.
Our orders were eventually taken and our first course eventually arrived some 45 minutes later. My chowder was fine but my wife's lobster with rice was only luke warm.
The main course arrived some 1 hour and 15 minutes later and both our dishes were barely warm, my beef was tender and placed on barely a spoonful of mashed potato with one carrot, my wife's meal was equally scant.
Dessert was very tasty but served 30 minutes later, just 30 minutes before the end of the cruise. So little time for dancing before docking, some guests were still being served 10 minutes before docking.
The boat and the voyage were fine but the food and time taken to serve was disastrous.
Do not book this trip if you want reasonable service and good hot food.
Cruise was taken in April this year.
Another point was that passengers were constantly going to the outside deck for photo shots which let in all the cold evening air and we had to sit with jackets and cardigans on.
The dress code in the booking was smart suits for gents and evening or office wear for ladies No Jeans. However, a good number of passengers did not adhere to this and were very casually dressed and were not turned away as it stated in the booking conditions.

This fabulous, our pick car in New York was 30 minutes late but this was due to 2 other passengers forgetting their passports and the car having to return to their hotel to collect .
Our plane was about 1 hour late taking off on both the outward and return flights but this was due to American air traffic controllers taking industrial action.
Everything else was perfect and went according to plan. Our guide was first class speaking 3 different languages for the 16 people in our party.
The lunch time buffet meal at the Sheraton Hotel on the Canadian side of the falls was excellent with a good selection of both hot and cold dishes plus salads and desserts.
Because visitors to the falls were not very many we were able to see other sights near the falls without being rushed.
Needless to say the Maid of the Mist trip was the highlight of the day and it was worth every penny.
A long day but worth every minute.
