If you have difficulty walking then this is definitely the way to go and see the Amalfi coast. The towns were beautiful but very hard to walk thru on the cobblestones and the hills that you need to navigate. We spent time in Sorrento but not enough to see the city properly. Our driver did not speak good English so it was difficult to communicate but he did his very best to accommadate our requests, I highly recommend private tours if you want to have a more relaxing time than the ones on the cruise ships.
The tour was very interesting but it did not allow for too much time to explore the islands we visited.
You were taken to specific shops for demonstrations and buying souveniers. I would have like to be able to experience more on my own with the guidance of the tour guide. If you have difficulty walking by the time you get to Toricello the boat dock is very far from the town, so we never did see it.
Be prepared to walk a long way from the terminal to get the boat, once there, there is someone to help you get your luggage on board. It is a wonderful way to see Venice for the first time but if you get seasick this is not the way to go. The drop off point was fairly close to our hotel but dragging the luggage thru the streets was quite an effort. Get the Porter service whenver possible. If I ever go back to Venice I would definetly take the boat transfer again.
